If a hog-dog rodeo is so cruel, what would you call putting a dog out into the woods with no training?

 

I would love to vote on this poll so I could voice my opinion that hog hunting is a GREAT activity for the dogs and owners. But-this poll makes no sense.

hell, truth be told, hog dog rodeos are pretty much a thing of the past anyway. Thanks the humaniacs that is. They raided all the key players in that world annd put them out of business. Everyone else closed up after that. Only a few are left and they arent waht they used to be.

If you are so against hog dog rodeos, thats your business. You are entitled to it. whether I agree with it or not doesnt mean it should stop..because in some areas hogs are a nuisance and it is much safer to use a well trained dog. (why dont you go watch old yeller ..then you might understand.. )

Im not sure what you know about canine behavior..hunting is actually quite NATURAL to them. They are hunters by nature.. infact, this behavior is often sought out in all breeds (ie puppies play fight, play hunt, etc) because people think its cute..and what then do you think a dog chasing a ball is doing? Its HUNTING.. its called prey drive. UNDERSTAND IT. The prey they are chasing..granted it is only doing what is natural..running..but they must be here for a reason..to be FOOD on the FOOD CHAIN

Hunting and sporting dogs are by far more companion animals then the average toy or non sporting breed. WHY because they have a job to do for a human. That is companionship. Have you ever been to a field trial of any sort? I suggust you go to one and see how those well trained dogs listen to their masters, look up to their masters and would never ever harm thier master or family. (granted some are so eager it seems like they are not listening..but alot of times its a young immature dog)

Whether or not you or I or anyone else agrees / disagrees..hunting has gone on for centuries. I am against hunting soley for trophies and the fun of it.. but the dogs must learn somehow.

If you want to blame anyone, blame man for eradicating animals like Wolves and such from certain areas that helped control overpopulation of nusaince animals ..also blame man for being too darn MONEY HUNGRY and eradicating some of the natural habit these wild animals lived in...(lets build subdivisions all over the country, wipe out woodlands, etc)

But if you dont let a pit bull be a pit bull, its going to find something else to chase and destroy. Hopefully its not the child down the street.. these are working dogs plain and simple. Maybe you should consider getting Am Staffs...

People that don't work their dogs and try to make them into lap dogs are the ones that are destroying our breed. They are just as responsible for the downfall of the APBT as the punks fighting them on the corner that couldn't care less about the betterment of the breed. If not more so.
If these dogs aren't worked, they develop behavior problems just like any other high driven dog. These behavior problems can include human aggression. Let them do what they are meant to do.
If you can't deal with the fact that they want to attack a hog, go get a dog that is bred to be a lap dog.

Now I've got a question for Pitgrrrrrl or whatever, why is it that a great majority of PETA's members and supporters are devoted to an "alternative lifestyle"? And feel it's no one elses right to question their choices, BUT stick their damn noses into any and every animal owners personal business. I've got a solution for all of ya humaniacs....."MIND YOUR OWN BUSINESS". Animals were put here to be eaten, used, worn, etc. And I'm very much an animal lover, just not an extremist, attention seeking, liberal fanatic like you and your ilk.

Ugh. This poll is rediculous. First off, PETA loves to stage their own "gruesome fight" scenes & then show what the "general public" is doing. They've done it before when it comes to hog dog rodeos. They stage them & them air all over television. THEY put "innocent" animals in danger just to "prove" a point. And ask them about the people they've MURDERED....yes I mean MURDERED....like SHOT TO DEATH!!! Several PETA members are now in jail for murdering "inhumane" humans. So that's ok? Kill humans, save the chickens? Or compare the slaughter of chickens to the Holocaust? If I were a Holocaust survivor or had family members that experienced it, I would be suing PETA's ass so fast they wouldn't know what hit 'em.

Second, have you ever seen an untrained dog go into the woods with its owner & not come out? Have you ever seen a 500 lb boar slam a tusk through a pit bulls abdomen & see it's intestines come out? Have you ever heard the cry of a hunting dog as not 1 but 2 boars ambush it? Have you ever seen the tusk of just a 200 lb javalina rip an 8 inch gash in a man's calf as he tries to run? NO!

Go take a walk in the woods unprotected in hog country & see what happens when you happen upon some piglets. You won't make it out unhurt if you make it out alive. So what do you think is more cruel? Parking your pickup truck in a clearing, filling the bed with feed, finding a hiding place back in the brush, & picking the hogs off 1 by 1 by 1 with your rifle as they eat out of your bait pile? That's fair & more humane? At least we work to get our food. At least the hogs have a fair chance. And if you don' believe that then at the very least, watch Old Yeller & see how defenseless hogs are.

The dogs are with us for our protection. They dogs are with us because they were bred to hunt. They dogs are with us for their protection. The dogs are with us as that is the way it's supposed to be!

????????????:confused: :confused: Are'nt pigs and hogs the same animals who we bash in their heads and slaughter daily all over this country, then enjoy eating them in many forms and different meals? These are animals in which people here slaughter and eat, I did'nt know the food we eat should have rights now, I know we're a free country but that's too far. Maybe hogs should have the right to an attorney, or freedom of speech? A hunt is a hunt, whether the animal is killed, injured, eatin, slaughtered, on my dish for breakfast, the only reason people are saying things about it is because pitbulls are involved, and everyone is jumping on the bandwagon of attacking the breed and anything it's involved with.............

Any other dog hunting a hog would have never caused any 2nd thoughts, but no, because its a pitbull its cruel, please...... We eat hogs everyday and if you think a dog chasin 1 for a few minutes is cruel, then go to a slaughter house and see what we as people do to the hogs when we are killing them and how they live their last days of their life. You go with PETA and protect your hogs, meanwhile i'll be scrambling some eggs in the morning........
