Well, actually we are doing French Ring but most people don't know what that is lol We'll leave it as a sport being similar to schutzhund. He will be 7 months this week, but these pictures and video are from a couple weeks ago. This is my pup Benny, who is having a blast doing the work. We are focusing a lot on his obedience as well, and his position changes are coming along. Anyway, what I'm offering up today is his bite work photos :) Please enjoy.

I couldn't be more happy with this pup.

Thanks Performanceknls...He had stopped biting hard for a bit post-teething to the point that he was slipping off the grip (my trainer called him lazy lol), but he is developing a better bite as he continues to grow. He is impressing me more and more each week. I can't help but grin while watching him bark and hit the harness for the sleeve...he looks too cute :D

Laced Wit Game: Our group is pretty much a few friends getting together to train our dogs for eventual competition. What kind of training are you interested in?

BringBackup, who are you training with? I have a couple of friends out in Cali that have Ring/Schutzhund clubs. Also, you doin your boy on legs? Upper body? I started Silence in Ring, then moved to PSA, then to Schutzhund. After he gets his Schutzhund III, and PSA I, then I will go back to Ring with him. He was started on legs, so that was entertaining to switch him to upper body. ;) Good luck with him!!!

what he NEEDS right now is basic obediance. but after i get him goin with that id like to get him goin on some kind of shutzhund training, not to compete, but for fun and a working outlet. so i can control his temperement like a lightswitch basically. he's very protective (not mean) and i want to be able to control that to the best that i can.
the dog in question is bred like shit, and just a house dog really but i wouldnt give him up for the world! a friend of mine has a 4 mnth old machobuck pup that he would like to get into some training also, when i get into my own place ill be gettin another pup and working him also.

Yeah, there are a lot of good trainers out in California, but unfortunately most are a bit of a drive from me. You probably don't know my trainer, but he has trained & decoyed with some well known people. I'm still new to the sport though, so I can't even begin to spout off names lol The best I can do is recognize them. I have watched a trial put on by a Bay Area Ring club though, which was a lot of fun.

We haven't started any formal bites or my trainer wearing the puppy sleeve, right now were are just building drive and developing his understanding of the game. We orginally wanted to do PSA, but it is pretty much dead on the west coast, so Ring Sport is my goal. It is awesome that you are touching all the sports with your Dobe--you must have a well rounded dog!

Yeah, even in the Midwest PSA is scarce to get to a trial! I had to drive to Texas last year from Indiana to make it to one of four trials hosted in the Midwest...that including Regionals. I know a really good Dobe in PSA, Kaz in Cali.

I can see you are just building drive. Not the way I do it, but he looks good! It is hard for us off-breed people to compete in sports dominated by German Shepherds and Malinois.

Yeah, Malinois' totally own Ring sport and GSDs are handling the Schutzhund field. We have to squeeze in where we can ;) I can care less if Benny and I get on the trial field and bomb it completely. I just want to get out there and have fun with my dog.

But I do intend of getting a Malinois in the future, or well bred APBT.

Yeah, we just meet up. The founder of the group has trained and decoyed sport dogs for many years. I'll PM you some information and you can let him know what you are interested in doing, and he can point you in the right direction.

I think Ringsport is awesome. It looks like your pup is enjoying himself.
I think your video does a nice job of showing how sport training is about the equipment. You can see how your pup is fine w/the decoy, no aggression towards him. I know many people don't like to see the APBT involved in bitework, but I think it's a great option for the right dog, one w/a sound, steady temperament, w/good drive, as your pup appears to be. Have fun training.

    Thanks for the compliments everyone.

You are right, Leslie. My boy Benny is very friendly with my trainer and happily brings the sleeve back each time. I've been socializing him since he was three weeks old, so he is very people orientated. Sometimes I think he prefers the trainer over me
