Any ideas on crosses they may work in big game hunting?

Strictly for the purpose of big game hunting, if you were to create your own dog you would have the best luck recharging a Great Dane. That was their purpose for a long time but have been show bred to death. A large apbt hog catch dog should do the recharging for you just fine.

Im not condoning this just replying to the OP.

The dogo arentino is the perfect big game hunter. no need to toy with it, its a large, strong, fast, fearless breed that works in packs. Adding a mastiff to that is going to give you an overly large dog and take away the traits of the dogo.

I'd just save my money and get a well bred dogo and save my self the time and money. You really aren't saving any money purchasing an extra dog to feed, cross, feed the pups, cull, and start the process again. There has been plenty of other people who have put this time and money in for you and added all the necessary components into the dog. Unless you just want to go threw the hardships on your own and create something of your own... but you won't be saving any time, money, and probably won't come up with a better product that is already readily available to you if you really want it.

Agreed. There are plenty of hunters out there that have already done the crossing to fine tune what they need. The dogo is a good choice but from what I've heard its tuff to find the good ones. The pogo (dogo x pit) is another option and I've seen some performance AB x dogo crosses that can really get it done. Also, a well bred AB from hog hunting lines is a solid choice.

    coll video!!

seem like they got the all round good hunting dog already!,

but bear might get them like a pitbull, cause they don't have the stand back and bay trait! like a Curr Hound.

i shopuld show you pics of the neighbors dogs, he's got 25 black and tans, and redbone hounds, fierce, but he's breeding them to brave!!

they get tore up alot, when treeing black bears and wolves, staples from the shoulders to the hips, like Nike signs,

you need a dog that stands back and bays,

    or goes in and grabs,

and those to types of dogs are meant for different quarry! most of the time, unless hunting hog solely!

Check out the Central Asian Shepherds, Very big but still mobile. And they are bred to Kill wolves. Crossing one of them with a big, intelligent, game bred Pit will be a good base.

Boerboel cross APBT. Shouldn't have a problem fighting dangerous game. Some lines of CAO have been crossed with gamedog to give them more staying power. I heard that "King" the nemesis of CAO champions was not APBT but a Boerboel cross APBT. If I could do any cross I liked to hunt with it would go Boerboel cross APBT. I'd then start crossing the best ones with Deerhound or Irish Wolfhound to create a dog that will run down big game and then have the power to deal with it.

Get a good 1st cross Bull x Greyhound, that'll do the trick. No need to create another strain.
