its common in some cities in nj dogs on 5ft of chain. 10 dogs in a yard to hold 4 comfortable.

We are in the process of building new kennels we have 6 dogs right now, we have a dog room with crates for each dogs, I have two chain spots and one run on the yard right now so it is three in three out and rotate all through the day. It works for now but will be happy when we have the 10 kennel runs we are working on built.

bump... but i guess its about how many you can keep healthy and comfortably... but im different in that respect to alot of members on here because i dont think the more land i was to have the more dogs i would have... i like to give my dogs personal attn everyday so i would have max 10 dogs even if i had acres on acres...

for those that use chainspots, reguardless of weather or not space is an issue, how long of a chain do you use?

I keep mine on 12 foot chains, and I rotate dogs from yard and house with 2 pit bulls plus a min pin mix at a time.
I wouldn't have 10 in a app but as long as you can handle it I don't see a problem with it.

At one point I had 13 and felt like all I did was feed them, didn't get to spend much time with them individually. I have three now and I live where I could have a 100 if I wanted but it wouldnt be fair to the dogs I don't think.

agreed with you super sport... ive never had 13 before but i've always been taught that dogs perform and act better when they're doing it FOR you along with wanting to do it... the old man said you just seem to get everything the dog has everytime if there is a real bond... The most dogs that i've had at once was 3... the main thing was walking them... just couldnt walk everyone everyday had to give them a schedule... i could see how a treadmill would come in handy if you had multiple dogs

Disagree on one level. I moved from Ga for the simple reason that their laws are ridiculous when it comes to dogs and their containment. In the county i lived in you had to have a minimum of a 16 foot lead/chain. No dog could be out for more that 6 hours a day and it couldn't be 6 consecutive hours. it had to be broken into 2 hour sessions at a time. if in a kennel, the kennel had to be topped, cemented into the ground and 3 of the 4 sides had to be covered, via tarp/wood walls. It was outrageous! So, for many years i was on a crate/rotate schedule. Constantly putting someone out and bringing someone in. It was a headache. Now that i have moved i have tons of land and there are NO laws about tethering here. hell, there isn't even a law for dogs at all aside from them attacking/killing livestock (unless of course it consists of illegal activities)

I now have 5 dogs.... Only two are house trained, the other three were farmed to me....I'm a NEAT FREAK so if you're not house/crate trained, you don't step foot in here....I make exceptions sometimes for injury, sick, etc.
