That statement sounds more like that of a pro BSL person, rather than a Gamedog owner. There's not many breeds I'd allow my son around, other than Gamedogs. I know he's safe with them. A manbiting Gamedog wouldn't live very long on my yard, though he may be in the yard a while.LOL

that dog is long gone.. so tell me, who was the owner??? I know who it was..

I also know who the breeder of that dog is... as for the dog itself, I dont know much..only about his parents and siblings

Further more he wasnt a colby dog.. he was a Rozmus McCoy dog who was bred down from mostly Neblett stock.. like the dog in my avatar who was bred by the same breeder

  10. I have a pit that I believe has amstaff in him. He is ADBA reg. and I think on his papers the names with stars mean they are amstaff. I dunno....but I am looking to trade him out for a Rat Terrier. I am not sure if saying this is breaking a board rule or not. I live in MS and if interested or know some e-mail me

The question I posed was actually a sarcastic remark, but I was just putting a spin on the situation for the sake of Devil's advocate. Opinions are like.......

But why would you say "I'd never let my kids with em cuz u just never know". That's one of the most uneducated comments about these dogs I've heard. If you really did own any game-bred dogs, you'd know why.

Another example of words being taken out of context. Pro BSL, pro-bono, pro-tective maybe? "I know he's safe with them" would insinuate that you are indeed a Gamedog mind reader. Perhaps you are, but I'm not and I'm just saying that a Gamedog is an animal and why place that responsibility on the animal. I've seen all of the cute pics of dogs with the babies and all, but I'm just saying what I, I meaning me Lytegray, wouldn't do.

Sounds to me like some of you guys have unraveled genetic coding, and if so then you, not me, are definitely on the wrong site. I'm learning, but I'm also trying to deal in logic and not emotion. If a Gamedog is as predictable as some of you would make them out to be, then the "true" game-bred owners, have never bred a cold dog, or a people biter correct? Notice I said never bred. If they have, then that means that it happens correct? Which means that it couldn't be predicted right? Hence supporting my logic of unpredictability. I agree that certain mannerisms are a result of the bloodline, proper breeding and proper maintenance, but just as human nature, given variables and the right situation, who knows. All I'm saying is that the owner should be responsible enough to control the situation. I don't agree with the laws suggested to control the dog, but I do agree with laws that would put more responsibility on the owner. As far as Floyd, let's bring him home. As far as I'm concerned the man had a yard with houses for all of his dogs, and I'm sure they were being cared for properly. If that's a crime then we'd all better get the stamps and calling cards ready!

This is somewhat off-subject but, how is it and why is it that people double register their APBTs as Staffies also? And if you registered your APBT as a Staffie, wouldn't their characteristics not quite meet the Staffordshire standards? I hear talk about doing this where I live (Okla.) because there are hardly any UKC conformation shows around here, but there are AKC shows every weekend it seems. Is this wise to do or should one just leave their APBT registered that only - and if planning on showing, spending the time and money to travel elsewhere?

  16. rocksteady

    rocksteady I'll drink to that..

you cannot register your APBT as an Am Staff .. AKC does not reconginze the breed APBT

the standards for both breeds are similar.. just UKC prefers more weight on their dogs

The only reason Am Staffs are dualed as APBTs is because the UKC registers them as APBTs ... they lump the Am Staff and APBT as one breed.. but again, you cannot register an APBT as an AM Staff

lol A cold dog is fine.. a cold dog just hasnt been turned on. GAMENESS is a hard trait to get. Not every puppy turns out game..if it did, hell lol. Areyou confusing a cur with cold?? A cur is a dog that has been deemed NOT GAME Cold is a dog who just hasnt turned on..you dont know if it is or isnt game

And I would say that if people are breeding like they should, then it would be a RARE occasion that a people biter popped up. And since these breeders were following the rules, that dog would cease to exist, not able to spread into the gene pool

Nothing in life is 100% except death and taxes... well, lol, you can get out of taxes but death,,nah

Don't think I'm arguing but a few people have said if either the mother or father of the litter is duel registered, then the litter can be registered both. With all this APBT banning talk going on in Oklahoma, that is supposively the answer to some of the problems. I'm still confused as to why a breeder would say it's possible, but then others say it's not. Are there any circumstances that might make it possible? I guess if you had an AmStaff/APBT mix or something? It's just been running through my head here lately. Guess I'll stick with agility with my APBT and get a Staffie for conformation!

Why would you get a Staff for conformation when you can do the same with an APBT?
Get the real thing. Every Staff or dog that is mixed with Staff that I have seen has bitten someone. I am sure that doesn't go for every Staff but I sure don't like the odds. Staffs are exagerrated shells of a great breed.

By the way, if they ban APBTs in OK, it will include Amstaffs, and Staffordshire Terriers.
