make that money, lmao, i think the adba is a joke and i don't think they have the breeds best interest in mind. i think the only concern the greenwoods have with our dogs is how fat their pockets can get. JMHO

Any money collected from LLP is supposed to go to the clubs, not ADBA.

How to apply for LPP status with the American Dog Breeders Association Inc.

    1. Complete an application for LPP status.
    2. Enclose two color photos of your dog. One photo showing the dog from the side, in standing position. One photo showing a full view of the dog from the front (standing or sitting) showing the entire head and feet of the dog. A photo will be used for the ID card, so send the highest quality photo possible.
    3. Spayed or neutered verification from a veterinarian.
    4. $25.00 application fee.
Mail to the American Dog Breeders Association Inc. P.O. Box 1771, Salt Lake City, Utah 84110

After review of your application, if your dog is deemed to be ineligible for LLP status, the $25.00 fee will be returned, minus a $5.00 processing and handling fee.

what club would they be sending this $25.00 fee to, just curious? i don't think they would be doing anything just for the benefit of the clubs or the dogs. JMHO

I dont have a problem with that. It gives people a chance to enter their dogs in the shows that otherwise couldn't enter. Franky, I'm glad there are spayed and neutered APBTs out there. Only reputable people should breed, not idiots.

I think it's a great idea for those who have rescued/adopted pit bulls who are unregistered. Showing is a good way to have fun with your dog. So, why not? I'd say it's about time they allowed this. Other registries have been doing it for some time with other breeds.

hey sorry I was wrong about that. As it stands now any dog can compete in fun classes and the clubs get the money, so if ADBA is now requiring these dogs to have a LPP card in order to show then yes it does seem like they are trying to cash in on it.

Just another beautiful way to lump BYBs and cur bred mongrel stains under the same umbrella as all other APBTs. At a time also, when we should not be allowing any unknown dogs in as APBT and all dogs that look like APBT get in anyway. We need to re-evaluate what the hell kind of good outcome can come out of it? I guarantee, I could go take a American Bulldog and breed it to a Bull Terrier and go get it LPP certified, theres one bred like this in the city that youd never guess lineage to if you hadnt seen her parents. She has a Pit Bull head and body but no APBT blood. So when she gets a LPP certification as a APBT and bites someone, on down the road that gets looked at , they see her LPP, and she gets lumped into the APBT umbrella and unfairly drives up the bite ststistic of our breed when she is technically a MUTT. I think this is a horrible idea and unfair to a breed that was never been considered previously in history to be a dog based off of looks. So whats next? We should be striving to drive dogs called APBT out of our breed that are BYBs and no good breeders for no good reason...GET THEM OUT. DONT LET THEM IN... We should never allow these mongrel dogs to even be called APBT. So our breed can get bad rap and go thru turmoil caused by some inferior crap bred for no reason at all but shares the same name. Yes, I can see the positive light, im sure a lot of people would have fun registered as this and competing, also most would probaly never bite or do bad, but it offers to many variables that unfairly put weight on the shoulders of our originally GAMEBRED dog. Weight it already pushes up that hill everyday as its true form, why should we force it to do double time covering all these unkown dogs too while in their untrue form? Its unfair, why not just take those dogs and name them under their own class away from the gamebed dogs or true pure APBTs in general. They could go their way and us ours, there is no fair ground or reason to chase our name and coat tails.

i wasn't trying to be a smart a$$ or anything i just have lost a lot of respect for the adba over the past few months due to some injustices i felt i was dealt. after having taken a dog half way to being championed out i was told that i could no longer show the dog due to a rule that they had not previously published and that they all of a sudden decided to enforce. after making several attempts to contact them by phone and by mail with no response i decided i will now take my business elsewhere, aadr. i even had several adba judges that i had contacted tell me what was being done was not right at all. and i even went to a show in norman, the greenwood memorial show actually, and before going to that show i was informed that i couldn't even show my dog in the fun show, judges choice, unless he was entered in an adba sanctioned event at the show. so due to the lack of respect the adba had shown for me and my dog, and after taking entry fees for over seven shows that my dog placed, and them deeming him no longer qualified to even be in the ring with other dogs, i no longer feel their interest is with the breed or their patrons, just with the money they recieve. it is already bad enough they will register 100+ pound "american pit bull terriers" for weight pull and all the huge blues they send registration papers out to because someone is willing send them money, now they want to just cash in on every dog out there that the owner is claiming is a pitbull. sorry for the rant just letting you know where i am coming from.
    yis,

hey t.j. no offense taken. I had mis-read something on another board about this subject, so I was just clarifying. I understand that a business needs to make money to stay in business, but not at the expense of our breed. I think that as more & more people have experiences like what happened to you, they will be switching to AADR too. I really like AADR, its what ADBA used to be, & Im looking forward to showing with them again.

That's Screwed Up. They Let You Show Your Dog For Awhile, Then Changed Their Minds About A Rule They Decided To Pull Outta Thier A#*. And I Know They're A Pain To Deal With And Talk With. And I'm Sooo Pissed That You Can't Get A Pedigree Online From Them, Or Even View It.

Texas Boy, would you mind explaining what new rule kept you from showing your dog? I recently went to a show in Florida with my Maggie dog, and a judge basically laughed at me and said she would never Ch because she has two different eyes. I was always under the impression that ADBA didn't judge eye color, but now they do (all of a sudden). If you would rather, just pm to discuss it. Also, any of you in the AADR, was it difficult to get your dogs registered with them, and do they have any reps in Fl? I know a lot of folks (over the comp) who register with them dually and exclusively. Any one have a web link? Thanks

It wasnt difficult to register with AADR. As a matter of fact if you register at one of their shows they only charge $5.00 with a copy of pedigree. Here is a link...

  18. I think it is a great idea!!!! I have ADBA registered APBT and I am on a list to bring home a rescued rednose pit. With being able to shows him also will just help prove we have an excellent breed and also show we don't ust show our dogs just to rack points so our puppies can sell for more.

  19. rocksteady

    rocksteady I'll drink to that..

It all depends on the judge and the quality of dogs in the class..
Basically you are paying for someone's opinion on your dog and how they interrprut the breed standard. If the class is really good, it will come down to simple things like ears, eye colors, etc. If your dog has already been winning or placing in shows, keep trying..

AADR.. I had no problems registering my dogs..since they were already adba reg. ..I prefer to show with them anyway..they are even getting quicker in sending out their certificates lol..

Thanks for the info RockSteady. That particular show was my first, and it disappointed me tremendously. Not just the judge, but most of the people there. Out of all things, I would have expected a scrap or two from some of the dogs, but the people there were the ones swapping punches:mad: Really discouraged me from attending any more. Thanks for the AADR link, I'm definately gonna look them up.
