I disagree, if a person is doing nothing with the breed and they are keeping them out of the publics eyes, then that is doing a positive thing in this day and age! Why does it have to be nothing or Sch. Cant a dog be obedient without having bitework done?

Actually my "what if's" were right on. Based on the fear mongering that the media portrays, not me,( I am not fear mongering) and their past record reporting on pitbull incidents, my "what if's" are exactly how the media would see it. It hasnt been done for the past 100 years because these animals arent and haven't been bred to work on people. No, my logic is, why would you train a apbt to attack people when they (apbt's) are getting a bad wrap about being dangerous and attacking people and BSL is only getting stronger. If everyone kept their dogs locked up at home and out of the general public's eyes we wouldnt even be arguing this because there would be no BSL and no reason for me to have any reason to disagree with you. Unfortunately there is BSL!

Having a dog that will protect its property or owner...isn't remotely the same as a man-biter dog. Which is what people in this thread have tried to contend that's what a trained sports dog would turn into if doing such training with their dog.

If they're doing "nothing" as you said...why in the hell even have the dog/s? Hiding has never made a problem magically go away. It doesn't have to be nothing or Sch. The original post mention it and other things...so I just went with it. It was all complete bs, hence the reason none are able to explain their position on it. It's all just based on what they've read and back up by zero actual proof or experience.

You discredit your own argument by adding all these "what if" scenarios. To make my point...show me one article, news story, etc that involves the news media hammering the breed based on what a owner with a professionally trained sport dog did or that dog did while on the field. You can't you can only make up fantasy stories in regards to it.

Sure there wouldn't be. Has it never occurred to you the issue isn't those partaking in a sport that is the breeds problem? Hide your dogs all you want, everybody on this board can do the same...will do absolutely nothing to restore the image of the breed. If we go by your logic; "hiding make idiots hide their dogs too". We should all be able to love them and do any sport we want cause that's what the idiots will do too. Now if that's not what your exactly saying then only other possibility is you're say waste time, destroy the breed cause all you should do with it is absolutely nothing because of their image and never know what the news may print about the breed if you do something with it. Yes it is, and would be a new phenomenon with apbt during the age of BSL. Yes, they already had the option, but currently with the internet and chat rooms and youtube and social networking you are increasing the odds by incresing the number of people and how fast and easily others are influenced and communicate. I am saying it should only deter apbt owners from doing bitework with their apbt's. You can do whatever you want with your dog. Why use the apbt for bitework? Why not use one of the myriad of other breeds that do this work? Im not speaking about pets, or chaining, or show dogs.
