Black one looks more like my girl than the show dogs that were shown earlier, ben. That's why I feel like there's no way we could even place in a ring today. Despite what others may say or think, I understand what you're saying and I agree with you. The show dogs are getting prettier and prettier.

Culling happens in any breeding program of any kind of animal. That's why its a program. Not much of a program if they just breed any two animals together without a goal in sight. If you have a goal as a breeder, you cull. Don't matter the animal or breed.

the 2 dogs pictured were off the same sire. it wasn't an accident its what newbies call a 'program'.

Sorry Venom, I am confused. Why are you talking about culling in a thread about show dogs....I don't think anyone brought up the subject of culling. Almost seemed like you were posting on the wrong thread.

Thought it was about culling cuz the first 3 posts are talking about bulldog owners being the only ones that cull... and then another post about the rhodeisan ridgebacks and dalmation breeders culling. my bad lol

When a registry loses it sight like the ADBA has started to do with these "new style" dogs from those weak ass Gr. Ch. Matthew dogs to the Razor Edge bully breeds, what will happen in 20 or 30 years to bulldogs, they will be just APBT with a title that means nothing to the dog involving the “pit”. You don’t have to match your dogs to have love and a certain amount of respect for the old way of things. The dogs had purpose, they had function, they had bodies built of steel from the good lord, they had attitudes about other dogs and anything with fur that would make the devil shake in his boots! I love my pit bulldogs and none of my dogs have seen the plywood walls before but I do have enough love and respect to keep my dogs as close to this standard as possible without curring out to a pretty little rednose dog with thin legs that would snap if he jumped up off the ground, slender female muzzle that couldn’t hold a hide for longer 5 minutes, huge sink holes in their chest that couldn’t hold air at the 45 mark when they really need it, rear ends that couldn’t pull or push anything, and most of all the attitude and the heart not to give up. When I go to a show, our own a dog; I want to bring mine in like they are going for number 5 (basically a force to be reckoned with) without breaking one law so HSUS and law enforcement can kiss my a$$. Without the support of real bulldoggers putting their dogs in the show; how will this ever change for the better? Would you rather read a book on Jeep and how Crenshaw brought him back to win his <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" /><st1:place w:st="on"><st1:country-region w:st="on">Ch.</st1:country-region></st1:place> or would want to read about Gr. Ch Matthew was such a pretty dog that he could win an APBT and a Whippet show in the same day?

I was very UNimpressed with matthew, I saw him in '06 or '07 when he was young, he looked alot better then. now he looks like another skinny dog.
the adba has accelerated its decline into irrelevancy since hank took over.
if the registration keeps this up there won't be any shows in just a few years.

Hmmm... I personally like those skinny dogs. I think mathew is a good looking dog, hell he's prolly got more bone then my dogs did, and my yard wasn't just show dogs...

I don't get what it is that u guys don't like, cuz that's almost exactly how I wanted my dogs built. Thin deep chest. Long legs long neck, they end up a HUGE dog at the wait.

But then again I liked intelligent dogs that used that body type to they're advantage, not retarded barnstomers who NEED to be durable or they don't make it...

But I havnt been to a show in years, so maybe its exaggerated now. But the pics I saw of matthew and his progeny looked exactly like I wanted dogs looking.

Care to show me these whippets u don't care for?

    retarded barnstormers??
I posted a couple of photos of real bulldogs that also did well in the show ring.
I seriously doubt a dog like matthew would look that black 'retarded barnstormer' in the eye let alone be able to keep up with the pace he could set.
    dogs like matthew LACK TYPE.

Some of the owners of some of the top ADBA show dogs were working and caring for dogs many years ago .... most likely well before most on this site even had a dog... They also were mentored by some of the best working dog men in the Country....

Most have mortgages, careers etc... and the idea of getting their yard taken and going to prison just doesn't appeal to them....

I say... post you own pictures of your working conditioned dog and let's go from there.... It's real easy to sit back and criticize when I don't see pictures...

Would the top ADBA dogs jump the wall??? Who knows??? Would 95% of a litter off the best working dog out there jump the wall??? I say yes....

This is really a pointless topic.... Going to work some dogs before my shift tonight... peace out...

Sorry Ben, don't get your panties in a bunch! I DO like the dogs pictured, but they aint picture perfect EITHER imo.. They are good looking, and any dog that has the structure to go with his style I can appreciate. Never said the dogs pictured WERE retarded barnstomers, but a WHOLE lot of people who breed sure do breed for that.

I don't like barnstomers at ALL. Tell me if this dog could "keep the pace"

Does this guy "lack type" ? cus he made mathew look thick boned... had that whippet body, and a terrier face... And he SURE as sh!t did more than LOOK those retarded barnstomers in the FACE...

vengence was probably one of the better dogs jack bred. but I will say his breeding program was hyped by him. in the real world jack's dogs were average or below in performance and they showed signs of weakness due to inbreeding.
when jack wanted to outcross his dogs into another line of bolio dogs he called me but I didn't want anything off his dogs.
mike, 95% curs?? thats laughable, why breed dogs if they produce mostly curs?? thats what is wrong with the breed today, showdog people breeding litter after litter of curs to get pretty dogs.

very true ben thats how most ppl these days are and they have nothing but curs and tike there the shyt...

  19. MinuteMan1979

    MinuteMan1979 Big Dog

Oh I'm not arguing about jack's breeding program, or anything but the STRUCTURE of that dog, and his littermate sis I also owned, and some of her offspring...

Vengeance is built almost to a T like the type of dog you say you don't like and couldn't do the "real" thing. I also agree he is one of the best to ever come off jack's yard.

But he sure beat dogs built more like you're describing, no?
