Pit Bull for Protection?

Run with a bat....cant be that hard

 

Get a treadmill and run inside

 

Umbrella or something! Stun gun, pepper spray, loads of things to carry. My Dobe WILL protect me, but why put the risk of getting him hurt if I can chase off these dogs?

 

dogs are great to run with, but wouldnt use a pit for protection. Just seems like an easy way for you to get yourself into trouble. I'd go with some sort of guard dog (rott, doberman, g.shepherd).

an extendable baton,pepper spray,stun-gun etc ,or if you cant carry weapons put a sock down your pants and put a rock/padlock or something else hard and heavy in your pocket, either have an excuse for why its there or make it something you easily throw away.
if the dogs chase you put the heavy object in the sock and swing away,problem solved.

You can sue anyone for anything, that doesn't mean it will stand up in court.
Fully automatic rifles = jail time no matter where you are. Unless you own it legally.
People breaking in your house or property need to be shot with out consequences.

 

Why not just call the owners and tell them to contain their dogs, otherwise they won't ever see their beloved Fifi again? If they really cared about the dogs they wouldn't be allowing them to frolic the area and harrass neighbors. If they won't chain, kennel, or just keep them home, call AC or whoever is best in your area and have the dogs taken in as strays. Or, you could be like my uncle and shoot their dog, then drape it on their fence so when they're sipping their morning coffee they look out to see what happens when you let your dogs fuck with neighbors...

 

Atleast carry something like a BB gun or even something like a kids dart gun.. or something that makes loud and horrible noises. Scare the hell out of the ankle biters and make them run home. Don't use your dog to protect you, grow your own pair of balls buddy. Dogs aren't weapons. Using your dog to "protect you" is only going to make your dog get put onto the Dangerous Dog List in your area and stir a lot of shit with your local law enforcement, then give every body else's Pit Bull an even worse reputation. There aren't usually second chances with Dangerous Dogs either... once, put on a their records and given a huge list of specifics you must follow... twice, dead dog. Usually the way it works.

Wow i cant believe i just read this thread for 20 mins i feel stupider now really lets get a working dog for protection and who's going to protect the dog while its a pup so you can train it to run with you.......................2 cur VS puppy bulldog equals total disaster but you know i would do just like when i walk any dog if another dog runs up on me i boot it in the face or crack it with a stick...................................but just common sense and if it came to a dog that i dont give a flyin shit for a gut gun has always stopped them

 

You sound like someone that ran home after school once the bell rang cause everyone would kick the sh&t out of you. Wrong reason to get a dog.

 

I always run with my dog just in case such a thing where to ever happen, my dog has been in many scraps with all kinds of dogs. Rotts, other pits, Akitas etc had her with me I'm sure one of those times the loose dog would have came after me. As for the fights what has always happened is the dog gets its ass handed to him and backs off, the problem with that is once you get ready to run again it may try to come back depending on how bad it got owned. So I would usually wait like 5 mins and the dog usually backs off for good. A game pit is not an ordinary dog and most dogs can sense this, no matter how big and scary they look. With bully pits thats a little bit different, they still are tough and its like they don't want except the ass whoppin. I've had to call the police or pound a couple of times. Its good to run with a dog, it just feels right. As for protection you are better off with a female if you are a guy at least from my experience, there is more of a bond. This is more when it comes to dealing with human beings though, an APBT is going to try to destroy a dog its breed to do that. My female has even exhibited this towards male dogs.

And a little boy walked past with this rat terrier who was at the end of his leach tryin to get the dog i was walkin i laughed and kept on walking as soon as i turned my back i hear "no boy come back" i turn around and this little dog like 6 inches tall lol is running at us LOOSE i had to pick up the beast i was walkin i hold him as high as i can and the little bastard dog is fully tryin to jump up and grab the 52 pounger im walkin lol not all dogs know they can get ate lmao!!!!!

 

same here ..... this big ol lady was walking some terrier dog and he was going crazy amd sure enough he got loose from the big ol lady. I had to pick my female up over my head. The big ol lady got cursed at and yelled at. Talk about aggrevating as hell. Little 10 pound dog and he breaks loose from this 300 pound women

 

I didnt have ta really yell at the kid you could see it all over his face he knew he messed up lol i just kept yellin "Kid get your dog" and laugh kinda thought to myself takes balls to attack something that can crush you in one bite lol!!!

 

What I find funny in all the threads like these (people wanting protection from a dog) is where are your BALLS? I hope saying that doesn't get me banned, but really. Where are they?

I've had my share of stare-downs with dogs. So I'm not talking out my backside when I say this. But if the dog isn't 50 lbs or more, I'll be the only one walking home. That's a promise.

Where I lived once, the neighbor kept a nasty black Chow on a chain in his backyard watching his back door. Problem is, he knew NOTHING about properly chaining a dog. So this dog would get loose a lot. He came in the driveway once where mine and my sisters kids were playing. I immediately got the kids into the garage (overhead door was open) and I met that dog halfway across the driveway face to face, no weapon other than my superior human brain. He scratched, growled, false-charged, you name it. But in the end, that dog ran a wide circle around me and went somewhere else. If he'd have jumped, I'd have strangled him to death right there in the driveway and never once hesitated.

The point to all this is, MAN UP!

 

Take a good look at my avatar he was only 44 in the pic topped out at 46 full grown and if you were the one he was lookin at in that pic and my boy let go lol you might be the one goin home but you goin home MESSED UP lol!!! Took to home protection training so good that he didnt even really have ta bite you to control a situation he could punk you with a look and a growl and he knew it too lol!!! was a Gr.Ch. Spike/reids/koberts dog by the way.
