Ok, long story not too short. LOL. On Saturday, we caught a young Lab down amongst our dogs. He is only say 6 months old and fairly idiotic.
He didn't get close to any of the grown dogs thank goodness but when I finally got my hands on him I called the number on his tag.
It seems that he was LEFT loose to fend for himself and the people left their ditzy 19 yr old daughter to feed him (when she found the time to go home from the BFs house I guess). Anyways.. I told the girl and her boyfriend how he got all up in my dogs face and was very lucky not to have been injured. I told them exactly how to chain him up, shade, water etc etc. Yeah, lady yeah, sure thing, ....they left.
So at 3:00am this morning we awoke to some very high stress barking from the yard. We knew it was not the ususal "I see a deer, coon, possum" crap.
It seems that Stormy had a black dog (I truely think it was the young Lab) down in her chainspot and was working him over GOOD!
Husband took hold of her chain in one hand and the stick in his other and started to pull her to him. That dog was snapping like crazy on her head to get her the F off him. I was yelling at my husband just to let her do her thang, cuz I didnt' want him to get bit.
Thank Goodness she let go and the dog ran off yelping. She was proud as punch of herself and we washed her face good and doctored her up. She was not injured much at all.
BTW this is the 2nd time she has got a dog in her chainspot. Should I call that number from the dogs collar or not?
I want them to know I was right, but don't want to bring trouble on myself either. My dogs are contained well, but I can't be responsible for loose dogs can I? I am glad he didn't get into Tysons or Solos chainspot or I am afraid I might be burying a Lab.

I would think because the Lab came onto your property the lab's owner is at fault. Now this Lab has been abandoned or they are on vacation and just left the dog free to run? Either way that's not a good situation and if the dog is caught the owners will be fined for it. I hope your girl is okay. That Lab is lucky 2 times. His 3rd might not be so lucky. BUT you have already called and warned the owners daughter. Nothing more you can do on your end.

Shouldn't have broke it up. Dog comes onto your property and gets in your dogs face, it's fair game, winner take all. Those people should have taken better care of their dog and not let him roam around feely. It's not your fault for anything and if they didn't take the necessary precautions to prevent this then they deserve to loose the dog.

    Honestly...

You'd probably been better off never having called them. All you did is let them know where to look when they're dog is missing. And you already told them you had "big mean dogs" that coult hurt they're lovely lil pooch.

Technically your right and in the right, but if your dog "attacks" they're dog, even on your yard... well it just seems like your inviting AC to come take a look, and you better hope everythings in order.

Next time, leave it alone out there, and let your girl do her thing... Dead dogs cant tell secrets... Sucks but...

Dont call them, more drama in your life. I know its not the pups fault but for the sake of your own dogs if you see it loose again i would call someone on them and hope they get a fine. If they dont care about the dog maybe they will care about money. Maybe call anonymously

I wouldn't call them to tell them "I told you so" They won't learn anything anyway.Who knows they might call animal control and even though you're in the right who can tell how a situation like that would end up.I would just kick the crap out of the lab everytime I seen it on my property and if it ended up getting killed in a chainspot, then he just had owners to stupid for him to live.Bad for the dog but that's the way things go.

For the people who suggest letting your dog do that dog in your wrong, the right thing is to break it up and we as pit bull owners have to be more responsible even iof those around us aren't. Shit hit the media about one of our dogs killing another dog and people wont care about the situation. Plus if you are really a dogman you don't want to see another animal suffer.

The next time the dog comes on your property, I say you shoot it, if that's legal in your area. The dog doesn't deserve to die a slow death in one of your chainspots because of its idiot owners... or get hit by a car or killed by coyotes or whatever situation may arise. AC probably won't do anything if you call them and it sounds like the family the dog belongs to just doesn't give a damn.

owners like you are the cause of BSL.
bulldogs should be kept on a chain on an enclosed fenced yard so no stray animals or children can wander onto the dogyard and get mauled.
like it or not its ALWAYS the fault of the apbt owner when something goes wrong.
and who in their right mind would want to see someones pet get mauled by their bulldog?

if i were you i would say nothing deny everything and if it comes on my yard again (which it probably won't seeing as how it got its ass kicked) put it in a hole in the ground.but in the mean-time if you don't want to keep digging holes I would do more to secure my yard because if one stray got in more will follow

All that is true enough in its own right but i can't afford a fence right now. I am on 2 acres. This is the second time in 4 yrs I have had a stray in my yard to get into trouble.
No, I am not going to call them. I'm glad the young dog wasn't killed. Hopefully he won't come back to my yard.

I wouldn't put MY dogs lifes in danger at the hands of AC, to save somebody who don't give enough of crap about it to keep it safe's dog...

had a nice wacamaw gyp get shot dead cuz some mutt jumped my buddy's fence. Neighbors caled the police and guess which dog they showed up and shot. Mutt jumped the fence cuz she was in heat.

I've taken several dogs back to they're owners... ain't ever get me anywhere but MORE pissed when it ended up bavk on my yard...

wow,..unbelievable advice posted on this thread....a 6month old lab wanders on to your UNSECURED property....????...YOU CAN AFFORD DOGS BUT NOT FENCING??????

the 6month old labs only fault is to be owned by morons, and able to wander on to your unsecured property , and for that it deserves to have the shit kicked out of it by you???? or worse. to be shot??? or simply left to be killed by your dogs???
    UNFUCKING BELIEVABLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
YOUR JOB IS NOT TO WORRY ABOUT MORONS OR THEIR DOGS.....YOUR JOB IS TO SECURE YOUR OWN PROPERTY, THEN ITS NOT YOUR PROBLEM...AND IF EVERY ONE FOLLOWED THAT ADVICE THEIR WOULDNT BE A PROBLEM PERIOD!!!!

I couldnt agree less... I'm not saying that a fenced yard isnt a plus But the fact remains that Its only his/her responsibility to keep his dogs in,not to keep other dogs out.. Like I said a fence is a plus but anything that doesnt belong gets dealt with... EVEN IF THAT MEANS DEATH..

Tiger i dont know about you but i really cant afford to put up 6 foot of chain link around my entire propety to make it where no other dogs are able to enter my yard if i could i damn sure would and i dont know how much land the OP owns either but have you priced getting that much fence? its outrageous plain and simple all the OP needs to do is have there dogs kept securely not create a fucking fortress around there house if the pup is owned by idiots sure its not the dogs fault but it is better off dead than to roam around maybe get run over poisoned or what have you the OP done the right thing plain and simple nothing more they could have done if the dog gets killed by other dogs that are secured on a chain then the dumbass dog isnt worth having around anyway thats just the way i see it

Well 2 acres I don't know if I would fence all of that in if it was my property.... Scooter is there a "doggie jail"(dog shelter, dog impound) around where you live? Maybe if he comes onto your property again you could drop him off. Just say you found him wandering and didn't want him to get hit by a car or something. No need to bring up where you live exactly. Even some veterinary hospitals will take in a stray dog if you say he was wandering onto a busy street.

You being a mod should know better than to believe something so rediculous...
Owners who cant keep their dogs in their yard are the reason for BSL..That was a foolish post

Wow. Let cooler heads prevail for a moment. I didn't take his post to be aimed at me. I took it to be aimed at the quoted post. I also believe a fence would be the ultimate fix but cannot do that at this time. I have 9 outside dogs all on very nice chain set ups under shady oak trees with all new dog houses built by my husband. I have 3 in the house.
Of course I care about the little Lab. I kept him here for 3 hrs till the owners came for him. I told them how important it was for him to be contained.
I am on 2 acres and do the absolute best we can by our dogs. I sleep content at night because my dogs are the picture of well bred health and happiness. We have owned this breed for 30 yrs.
To the positive responses, thank you and to the others....
