Ditto.........to this post. If Im following the law and properly containing my bulldogs .......it aint my damn problem when youre loose dog wonders onto my yard. Same goes for me ...if my unsecured bulldog goes onto someone elts property. Whatever happens to my dog..Im at fault.

damn straight someones pet if they cannot properly contain that pet that they supposedly care for then they do not need to own said pet and if it continued to enter my yard tear up trash or cause any problems on my yards its a dead pet but if it just wonders onto my yard and is a random roamer causes no harm and is smart enough to stay away from my dogs well then i have no problems with that but i myself have very few neighbors and i know all the pets that they own so i personally dont have the problems alot of the folks on here have

Your question about a kid is silly...
I dont care about someones pet.If it dont belong,it just dont belong.
And what i have isnt important but i dont see what my hypothetical dogs being killers or not being killers have anything to do with this thread...Are your dogs Game? Same kinda stupid question right?

    P.S. I dont even like dogs..lol:D

Owners like me live in the COUNTRY! I know better than to live in the city or anywhere close. My dogs are on cable runs. If another dog comes in my yard and gets in reach of my dog, it's on. I didn't make my male or female DA. I'm not saying to HELP your dog kill the other dog but it's the middle of the night and nobody saw anything. She did her part to keep her dogs from hurting anything but the Lab still got in to the area. Stupid owners who make there dogs aggressive towards people and let them loose are the reason for BSL. Any kid wanders into my yard (Not going to happen) can touch my dogs with no problems. My dogs are not people aggressive and IF they did show any aggression towards people they would be shot!
She broke up her apbt and let the other dog run back to it's owners. What do you think would have happened if that girl goes and files a complaint against her for having DA dogs? They aren't going to blame the owner of the Lab. Like you said, "apbt owners are always at fault." If the lab was killed and they found it in the morning they could have bagged it and sent it away or put it in the ground.

I may not be the smartest or most knowledgeable about this breed. I can't quote you what Colby or Boudreaux said 30+ years ago or tell stories about "the dogs of the past."
I can tell you about my dogs though and what they are capable of. I know I didn’t make them DA and they would attack me before any child. I know that as soon as apbt puppies are born, they are despised and condemn to hell by the general public.
You see it’s not people like me who cause BSL. It’s people who buy these dogs with no knowledge of the breed. They want a bulldog because it sounds cool and oh it makes me a bad ass! People who purchase apbt’s for protection but only teach them how to be aggressive towards people and then they don’t know why he attacked little jenny or billy and he couldn’t get his dog to stop. It’s the people who own other types of dog’s who let them run loose to come into MY yard and get killed. All these are reasons that BSL exists to this day but mostly due to people who judge the apbt and think they should all be kept on chains, kenneled, muzzled, booted and an 8ft chain-link fence that has electric ran to it and Constantine wire ran around the top and never be let out until the day they die. People, who think like this, cause others to think like this. After a while everyone thinks like this and wants something done. The domino affect!
Scooter, you did the right thing but just be careful so nothing comes back to bite you in the butt.

if I were to keep my girl on a chain spot it certainly wouldn't be in an open yard if their are neighbors in my area for a couple of reasons like maybe if someone wanted to poison or try and steal her I wouldn't have that but that is just me and obviously reasons like this where a dog or child could have access to her waiting for a disaster to strike and I find myself in trouble with the law because we all know a pit bull owner is always going to be at the fault in the majority of not all but most cases.

Whether any-one on this site wants to believe this or not Cl speaks a-lot of truth .The way are dogs are perceived by the general public (a jury of your peers) I gurantee that if your PIT-Bull DOGs maul or kill a poor helpless lab-pup you're going to be held accoutable and at fault like-it-or-not.Where i live we have to have a fence around our pool with a latching gate to protect the young and any-one unfortunate enough to fall in and in theory that shouldn't be my responsibility but it is and that same theory would apply to you as the owner of a-dog with the propensity to harm and maim other animals.you very well may-be the nicest people in the world and i have no doubt that you are and i am in no-way trying to disparage you but you obviously live close enough to other people where you have the very real possibility of other dogs or (god help you)little kids getting at your dogs and to think that you won't be held responsible if your dogs get at something they're not supposed to isn't going to come back on you and negatively affect are breed is misguided and naive

Well I suppose you would have to actually see my yard to understand. It is NOT easily accessible. A person would have to go OUT of the way to get into my dog yard. My dogs also are very people friendly and all know and love kids. They are used to teenagers and preteens and alot of my dog homies have kids as well. They are quite used to company coming over and to being ogled at and handled by different people.
I am not positive about little toddlers but I hope to God that toddlers aren't strolling down the street alone anywhere. We don't have any problems with thievery or gangs or any thing like that.
This is an upscale neighborhood to say the least. Executives, business people, medical professionals, teachers and young working families make up this hood..LOL
My NEXT DOOR neighbor is a CITY POLICE officer and he and his family are fine with my dogs. We had a LONG talk when he moved in and he likes knowing that when he is working, his wife and kids have an APBT under my carport that is also facing his carport as well.
I don't think we are quite as paranoid as if we lived in some other places where the atmosphere is a bit more tense.

I get where u guys are coming from, but that was MY whole point. Shoot the dog, and end of problem. Right now if they decided to do anything, guess who's getting bothered by animal control. Maybe even have a dog deemed a "Vicious animal" or some other bs cuz some irrisponsible owners dog got chewed on by this responsible owners dog.

And if u have a dog u have to worry about around KIDS, SHOOT THAT DOG. If a neighbors child ever wandered onto my yard when I had it, the WORST that woulda happened was a chain whip injury, or a scratch from the paws as the dog tried to LICK them.

I switched to kennels anyway after a lab bred to one of my brood gyps. Being proactive is always better than being "RIGHT".

And I spoke to a lawyer and leo after the lab bred my gyp, both informed me my best bet is to shoot it. Its a nuisance animal attacking or harming my livestock.

I got a BB gun, but now a days, i'd shoot to kill if I had bulldogs, seems the safest way to protect MY dogs.

say what you like I still wouldn't leave my dog on an open yard if I am not out way out in the country and that's why I stated what I had stated and for the record I live in nice new neighborhood myself that doesn't mean it's an automatic trouble free zone I mean your story right here is an example is it not? ;)

  19. scooter

Oh good heavens. There was never a word said about trouble free zone.
One more time.... a fence would be the best solution, but those with fences aren't a "trouble free zone" either. Anyone can go over, under or through a fence with a little effort. My point is this. I don't really think the dogs are 100% safe anywhere there are people in any sort of close proximity.

just answer this would this had happen if you had a secure fence set up then? I am talking about your situation not about other causes of un safety activities that COULD still occur like you said someone being able to still jump the fence. Hello your LEAVING an open yard for OPEN accidents and unfortunate situations VS at least against a well secure fenced and enclosed area you took one step closer towards playing it safe. Hell even us people are not 100% safe in our homes so what makes you think dogs will be? but you don't understand leaving an open yard in a neighborhood or close enough by is just waiting for an accident to occur which is what happen here, that's all I am trying to say to you I didn't claim that your some foolish owner or terrible person so just take an opinion (more of a recommendation) and this is aimed towards loose dogs that can easily wander onto your yard more then worrying about people doing harm remember.
