(I was cut off.....) I was saying I didn't have the space or would I have any confidence in them at all knowing both parents or one of'em was a cold or cur, which I beieve equalls a cull. Some see if different, I just don't see the point in wasting the time. The fact is "pitbulls" have become a fad and certains lines are peddled and so forth so there is money to be made selling curs and cold dogs with pretty pedigrees...

As long as the seller lets it be known that the dog is a cur,or is cold, then i don't see what it matters. If the buyer is aware of the facts, and still wants to spend his money on it,then that's his bad decision.

Could you enlighten us on where i said anything about puppies????? heres my post:

it never ok 2 sell a cur. never. u can sell a cold dog as long as u tell the buyer its cold......but most important: u should never ever breed either one!!!(unless ur in it 4 the money)

I think people understand what u mean...not pups. Grown dogs that are known to be cur or cold. Imo its a disservice to the breed

I thought the discussion was about buying dogs, didn't catch it was adult dogs only. In that case, yes I agree, on should be forthwright about the dog he/she is selling. I think that goes without saying....

But history shows there has been far too many cur/cold dogs that produced exceptionally well, just as history shows there's been many proven dogs that couldn't produce. Its not a cut & dry thing. Mother nature is not always easily predictable.
But alas, one can make a valid argument either way.

dogs are individually owned, if the owner wants to breed their dogs then they are and dont have to live by anyone elses standards. I dont know anyone thats bred a known cur but most my friends wouldnt have a problem breeding a cold dog and see how it produces. Selling cur and cold dogs? Curs arent supposed to be brought home but if youre up front about a cold dog then their isnt a problem with selling one....Dogs either produce or they dont!...

Good post minor, I think its funny how folks believe there's rules to go by when it comes to ones property. If your sold an unsatisfactory dog then sure maybe dude wasn't the most honest of folks, but sounds to me like the buyer is the dipshit for lending his trust to a hustler!

For the record I wouldn't sell a cold dog either as it would prolly stay on the yard,

I would pay for a cold dog if I saw it produce I brought a pure Eli bitch when I was starting out in dogs me and my friend brought 2 pups off of her and they were on fire at 3 months old so when the mother and father got put up for sale we got both of them $50 bucks for 2 pups $100 for the mother and father damn good deal did I mention they were adba registerd too.Someone came onto the yard and put another bitch on her and killed her so we couldn't repeat the breeding.:(

All good points benthere. I'm not a dog breeder and don't plan to be, I'm just playing devil's advocate by saying there's always exceptions to the norm. If you go by just the ROM list alone, then yes, the number looks low. But it would be misleading to go by just that list to find out which dogs in history produced good litters. That would be like saying the only good dogs in history are the ones with the W next to their name. Shit, for every dog who has a 'rom' or 'ch' or 'gr ch' next to his name, look how many dogs behind it that don't.
I'm new to apbt's but I've been around breeding & training of working dogs all my life, and i've seen the exceptions.
Of course the odds are lower, I never said they weren't.
Personally, I could give a shit less if my dog's parents were good fighters, I don't fight dogs and never will. It's interesting to research the breed's history and their capabilities and shoot the shit about it, but that's about it for me. Traits such as intelligence, temperament, good bone structure, prey drive, courage, good wind, health, agility, are much more important to me than whether or not they would bite another dog.
What might not be a good [] dog for someone might end up being a great hog dog, farm dog, security dog, family dog, etc, for someone else. Last I checked these courageous little mutts were good for more than one thing... but to each their own.
I'm gonna cur out now and go watch some football :)
