The REPEATED disrespect of non-game dogs and breeders

All I can do is laugh at that response... I would give you my negative opinions like you are offering yours, but I will not lower myself to do that. In fact, your dog is more than likely a "mutt" just as everybody else has said (except for me, but since you accussed me of it anyway). If you understand the word "stud," the purpose of the "APBT" and everything else you claim to even remotely know of as your own "truth" you would realize the reason for people responding to you in the way that they are. Nobody has been rude or arrogant, except you... you are the one claiming to have a "soon to be" "Grand Champion Mutt" and offer it as a so-called Top stud. How is that not being arrogant?

If I even got the sense that you have known some "REAL Old Time DOGMEN" I'm pretty sure everone would be able to recognize that through your posts and by what you say in them, and that sir is definitely not the case. Although you may have met and\or shaken the hand of a "dogman" I seriously doubt you "knew" them in any aspect, if you had, they would have probably ignored you and stayed away from you as much as they possibly could, especially as "arrogant" as you seem to be.

How is anyone supposed to "FIGHT BSL" when we have people like yourself breeding dogs without a true purpose and calling them exactly what they are not? You are not helping the problem at all, only adding to it and fueling the already overfueled fire. If you can not understand that after what has been posted to you, you sir are a lost cause and the one who is "worthless human trash."

 

i haven't read through all these posts, because i know the answers that will (no doubt) be in there. like mentioned in a few, this IS a gamedog forum. all is welcome, but don't get ill if somebody disagrees with how your dog was bred. hell, i went to a "big bully" site, and guess what kind of reaction i got?? everybody likes a different kind of dog for different reasons. i got what i wanted, so i never complain about it to anybody,,anywhere. for any reason. a true apbt can be tracked for years and years, and you will know exactly what you have in the end. if you like your dog, just take care of it, don't try to turn it into something it isn't...that's my opinion on it.

 

since size and color are an issue with this type of "true apbt", here's a question....isn't certain assoc. trying to rename this type of dog to "the american bully?"

Look, Shon, it is obvious you did not read the entire post. If you had you would have seen. I was not responding until Mia began to personally attack me. You being the admin I thought you read the entire post before you past judgement. I understand she has been through a lot and is a respected member of this community. But that does not change how she talked to me. Here are some of her words

Now I will say this one more time. If you think my dog is a Am Staff then that is fine. However, I show him in UKC and they cosider him a APBT. I am not a TROLL so I see this is not the place for me. As far as knowing real dogmen like I previously stated my grandfather and his friends raised catching dogs. In addition, I have previously owned two game dogs. Today, becuse of my surroundings I do not feel it is responsible for me to own a game dog. Nevertheless, I still like the temperment of the APBT. So I currently have a non game dog.

Well I still love my dog. Your personal opininos of him wont change the way I feel about him one iota. I do think the personal attacks were a little unwarranted. the whole "punks like you" and all of that... i mean after all there have been some very strong statements made about game dog breeders and the matching practices. I am not here to point them out or to reapeat them, just saying lets keep it about the dogs ad keep the personal insults to a minimum.
I havent had to endure any such taunts and would appreciate if i didnt.

Diesel, so some say your dog is fat or whatever. He is still a beautiful dog and a beautiful color and you're right - you, unless you are showing, are really the only one who should care. But personally, I think he looks like quite a gentlemen - even if he is fat!!!! (and I say that in a funny ha ha way)

 

No actually he is pretty damn fat lol.. He is pretty if you like dogs like that.

 

That's great! What others think shouldn't change the way you think about your dog. For people who are affected, then well, they shouldn't own the dog in the first place.

As for my "punks like you" statement, there's more to that than what you see, so I stand firm. Yes I'm pissy, but only because I had to watch part of my house get crushed & hear my dogs screaming for their lives, only to get quiet within minutes. So I think I'm jusitified.....................

What pisses me off like some like him, is that you noticed how quick he was to throw in the breeding word. I love most breeds of dogs, but ALL bully breeds. But I stand FIRM in my beliefs in the standards that an APBT should be held to before one even thinks to breed it. And because someone paid a registry $50 to have them say "you're dogs so pretty we'll register it", that doesn't mean it's up to breed standard & ESPECIALLY it doesnt' qualify someone to breed that dog. (the topic of registries is a whole different argument, so I'll leave it in the thread(s) it belongs)

Diesel, I think your dog is cute. Do I like him as a true APBT? No. He's a far cry from that. But as an example of another bully breed? He's nice looking.

It seems too many people are getting upset with us gamedog owners over their "new" dogs, but we have a standard we go by just like every other damn breed out there. Yet for some reason, some poeple think they need to change the standard or creat a "new kind of pit". There's nothing wrong with the old kind!!!!! My gamedogs walk down the street on leashes peacefully & will lie on their backs & roll around in the front yard with my nieces, nephew, & all the neighborhood children. Dog aggression is NOT an issue for me! If people don't want a dog aggressive dog, don't try to change this breed, don't get a terrier breed in general! I mean no disrepect to people UNLESS they continue to tout their arguemnet on why we "need" to change the APBT breed. It's already been done to some degree, & that's how the AST is here today.

I know we will NEVER change our minds about the changing of the breed. Because if we did, then we might as well go out back & kill off the rest of our dogs sooner rather than later, because that's all we would be doing. I love my dogs, & you love your dogs, & as long as you don't try to show a different standard of dog as an example of what my dog truly is, then all will be well.

Just out of curiosity, Diesel, would you be opposed to having your dog's type be labeled under a new breed name & standard, like the American Blue Bulldog? Explain your answer if you don't mind.

Would I be aginst it... no. I mean to a degree its already been done... like you pointed out the AmStaff is an example of that. When you breed the APBT for something other then its game trait it makes the dog another breed... that has been illustrated by the APBT- AmStaff split. I mean after all initilally that was the only difference. we have basically done the same thing breed the dog for oter factors, size, build, color, and what have you... meaning a trait other then gameness is the driving force of the breeding program. I can understand that.

 

I JUST GOT A BITCH OFF OF COWBOY AND THIS IS THE FATEST DOG I HAVE EVER SEEN I COULD NOT FEED HER FOR A WEEK AND SHE WOULD STILL BE 15LBS OVER WEIGHT LOL. SO I HAVE TO ADMIT I AM FEEDING AT LEAST ONE FAT DOG.

if people bring human aggressive dogs you should have a culling booth set up. this is one thing that there can be NO compromising of... a APBT that bites people should be put down. NO questions asked. they are too powerful and too dedicated to be allowed to live with that kind of temperment.

Just to make a point, it is the people who breed for size & color who run into this problem much more often than the gamedog owners. When someone is getting $800-1000 for these big blue dogs It's difficult for them to look past that trait in a sire or dam who is making them a pocket full of cash. This is FACT. Untested dogs are the ones bred up by the puppy mills & their the ones destroying this breed for the true fanciers.

I hear you... and sadly i cant disagree. I would say most of the breeders in my circles arent that way, but a blind man can see that we are not the majority. I dont think its just that though, because we breed for tmperment, size, and build.. color is not that important. The top 10 studs in the lines only 2 or 3 are blue dogs... depending on who you ask. The blue fad is over for those that are really in the "now". So i dont think its when you breed for other traits, its when you stop breeding for temperment. temperment is the first and foremost, then comes build.. then comes size. so a dog that is built great is better then the biggest dog, but the biggest dog with a correct build is preferable for me. If i have two dogs of identical build and one if all around bigger, but still proportioned well he would be my pick.
But doesnt matter what a dog looks like if his temperment is shot... he gets put down. if he is the biggest bodies biggest headed dog on the yard, not altered and sold or given away.. it gets PTS.
