not all the new generation, and more to the point a lot of the last generation all sold dogs to cash in when times were hard. Its part of life unfortunately but if idiots wanna buy poor dogs then thats all they deserve.

Look at this picture from 1800s:
    http://img821.imageshack.us/img821/9372/bullandterrier.jpg
I think most of you know this picture.
The first dogs that breed to dog fighting. The Bull And Terriers. The ancient staffordshire bull terriers.
They look more like the today's show dogs, than the 'athletic built' 'irish staffordshire bull terriers'. Short legs, stocky built, distinct stop, short muzzle.
Why you say today's staffords are shame when the ancient of the sbts (and apbts) were closer to these type of dogs?
These are the real staffords and not the rangy, leggy sbts and apbts that evolved later by mixed the breed with whippets or vizslas or god knows what type of dogs.
I don't say these old dogs better in the ring than the apbts. I just say this is the 'original'. And whats the problem if a breed keep the original built type?!

Incredible how dumb people can come up with there own Facts.. BS to even compare those dogs to today's sbt's

lemme gues.. you got your first dog, did some litle research and have a fat sbt yourself ?

Also remember.. the dogs went true a evolution, the first type of dogs didnt satisfy the need of the dog fighters, (to slow.. low ability.. No wind) This is when they brought the terrier blood in.
And if not mistaken this was some time after the 1800's

Have to agree with Elmo. What you are saying is complete bollox! If you look at old pictures of early APBT´s you will see a strong resemblence with the Irish SBT. If you look at the first bunch of Staffs registered with the KC you will also see the same resemblence.

I doubt that the APBT ever where mixed with anything! I even doubt that there ever where any terriers at all in these dogs! Its just a name... But god knows what they mixed in the show staffords to get them that fat...

    This has been debated alot..
personaly i've read, and believe.. that they first used moloss type of dogs.. Bulldogs aswell..
on other animals it was ok.. but when put ageanst each other.. they had a serious lack of wind. ability. this is when the terrier blood kicked in. They had good wind.. and a serious pre drive. also ability. ( imagen the ability tou need when your in a badger or fox whole)

Back to the day we live in.. i see what kinda fool puts a standard on a working dog?

If life was all about standards we would miss alot of great athletes.. look at the heavyweight boxers..
Mohammed ali.. totaly diffrent from Mike Tyson.
it was there quality and determenation that made em great..

(yes customato did his part aswell ;))

Hahahaha Elmo is right, you're just mad cause you bought a cur kc sbt instead of the REAL deal. Don't be bitter about it though, you're probably better of this way since you clearly don't know the history and the facts about these breeds and therefore wouldn't handle a real sbt or apbt.

OMG!!! I think people need to research their breed. Todays short stocky show dogs are destroying the breeds. They need to get those dogs fixed!!
