There has got to be a way of taking the collective knowledge of this community and getting a well written, factual account about what this breed is and isn't. I don't think the general public has clue one regarding the effort true Dog men and women take to maintain and cultivate a breed they love. Has anyone here ever thought about publishing such a paper? I do a lot of professional writing for a living and would be more than happy to donate some time to such a project. It just seems there should be a reply to such a commercial, inflamatory piece of "literature" (using the term loosly)......this really is upsetting

There is a wealth of factual work regarding this breed, but who wants to hear about "normal" dogs? Fear and repulsion and anger and tears, that is what sells a story. The media has turned the "pitbull" into a modern day fire-breathing dragon. "You're not even safe in your own back yard!" The average media zombie would much rather hear about the little girl who was torn to ribbons, than the APBT that led Search and Rescue to the boy who was lost in the woods for five days. People have a morbid fascination with death, destruction, and chaos. The best way to get someone to come out of their house is to park an ambulance nearby with its lights flashing.

This film isn't really about the dogs at all, it is just another study of "the evil that men do." Monsters creating monsters. Psychopaths and their killing-machines. You'll never see HSUS endorse a film about APBTs that like to play frisbee with children...there's no money in it.

I have a question. No matter inner city, country boys or what have ya, do we really need any video that has anything negative in the eyes of joe public, and the BSL happy politicians. I will be willing to bet dollars to dougnuts if there is a fight scene in the video that is all they will remember. We need videos of sweet little bullies saving lost little kids in back woods, or protecting cats on a trip across the tundra.

BGFU is right. I can see some people on the streets with pitbulls and I think these guys are not responsible enough to know keep it on a leash.

mydawgs i've been working on the exact type of thing you are talking about - a book and even possibly a film. i'd like to chat with you about it, and anyone else who can contribute.

Would love to contribute but please understand my skill is in composing literature - not in depth knowledge of these dogs. I can write and establish connections. My strategy was to try to publish in a diverse mag first, to get the non-APBT lovers eye first, then target speaking events. Of course that would require a credible expert on these dogs to represent the paper....your thoughts, pm if you want to take this off line.

i am by no means an expert either but am interviewing people so that they can speak for themselves. what sort of mag did you have in mind?
i'd welcome any other leads, ideas or approaches you have.

did ya'll see the deal on the discorvory channel where a pit bull jumped in front of his owner and her kids and took a nasty snake bite to the face and almost died and ended up gettin the states medal of honor for saving the mom,, on a little while ago.
