Sorry Naus. It won't, all it will do will suppress normal testicular function for a while which includes sperm as well as testosterone production. This can be reversed and normalized over time in which the dog's normal functions will restart. Normal production can also be jump started after or during anabolic or androgenic use with the use of hCG (Human chorionic gonadotropin). Though any person using the juice on their dogs are about as smart as a my old super inbred jeep mutt- (rip old guy lol).

Sorry Stos but it could. By limiting the body's normal production of testosterone and and healthy sperm count the dog will for the most part, "shoot blanks" now while this is in many cases completely reversible the problem becomes worth with aggressive and prolonged use of steroids and depending on the doses will take longer for the functioning to return back to normal.

Now consider we are talking about dogs who have a much shorter life span than humans. If given large amounts of anabolics it could take 2-3 years for the animals sperm count to return to an acceptable number in order to produce offspring. If not longer, theres no exact time frame. A dog post show career may only have 5 years left on its clock. now after 2-3 years of no outside test being introduced the dog is much older and sperm count may never reach what it needs to. You have a fertile animal.

I've used steroids on dogs and myself, as long as you fully understand them and use them appropriately they'll do far more help than harm.

    Naus,
OK so where are we disagreeing? You just agreed that in many cases, it's reversible. So are you writing that you found that the pooches that you've introduced synthetics to that sometimes it didn't ever rebound? Of course we can throw in all kind of variables to make an argument that it will or won't, but age is not something that was discussed. If you want to now say that we are talking about older dogs, of which normal sperm count goes down then yes I'm with you on that. As far as having it take 2-3 years then you may want to use hCG. The decision to use synthetics i.e., anabolics and androgenics and not use use hCG to kick start the dogs own hormones are done by people that haven't really considered all the factors in anabolic use. Or they just don't have the experience with what to properly do. Many people that experiment with anabolics/androgenics in that way without knowing the pitfalls of duration of time of "rebound" are making a big mistake. Why force the dog to rebound on it's own without the assistance of hCG? If you allow it to go at it on it's own time frame of rebounding then you more than likely will be be seeing a dog that should be gaining weight, and may become less enthusiastic to active exercise due to the loss of the exogenous hormones while waiting for the dog's own hormones to kick in.

As far as using anabolics and androgenics for quick recovery and the having the animal able to synthesize protein in a much more efficient manner then I'm all for it, but if people think it's a good idea cause it may make their dog more game, then they are mistaken. It's common knowledge that anabolics are or have been used considerable in thoroughbreds, but to administer huge doses that a horse would utilize would be only done by an amateur and he shouldn't be considered as someone who knows what they are doing.

BTW- Naus- I'm not implying that you are those type of people or were thinking that it would make them more game) The problem that I see is that too many people are wanting to make their dogs a "bully type muscular animal" by introduction of synthetics, which is myopic and not well thought out when they don't have a firm grasp of endocrinology.

    Peace out,
    SM

My disagreement was in saying that it can't make your dog sterile. I agree that in many cases, given the right circumstances it can be reversible but it also can result in a sterile dog if not used correctly or if used/abused in high doses.

With people given enough time the body can recover. Unfortunately dogs don't always have that same amount of time available to let there hormones return to the correct balance. If a dog is infertile for the duration of its brood career because of steroids then steroids have in fact made him/her sterile.
