is there a very high percentage of DA in this x?
i own a dog from a first x and apparently the whole litter has turned out very dog aggressive,as has my own.

i would say that the 1st cross would be viewed with attention .and used for pepping up things . and kept back or culled...

Hard to paint with a broad brush, but i think the vegas odds go up that a hunting terrier crossed with a fighting dog that the odds are gonna go up in the hunting dogs percentages that it is gonna be DA.

  5. I'm having that problem right now with my two pups. Patterdale/Jagdterrier cross. Very irritating. 3 1/2 months old and have to keep an eye on them when loose in the yard and can no longer kennel them together. I'm new at this so we both have a lot to learn.

ive known a few bullx lurchers that were dog agressive blanch
one terrier man i know was returning from a days digging. the dogs were in the back of the van and loose. when he got home and went to get the dogs out there was one terrier missing and blood all over the floor. the two bullx lurchers had killed the terrier and had eat the dog between them. this is not the only time ive know bullx lurchers to mince up terriers.

Id like to go the other way with the patterdales. I have a 12lb gyp right now and she can get pretty much anywhere. The problem Id like addressed is the amount of time it takes to get to the groundhogs. If I was a breeder Id cross a patterdale with a den terrier and then back to patterdale again and get some eight pounders. A terrier that size is in quickly and quietly before the hog has a chance to backfill and that ups our success rate. Breeding to the bull blood for size in use for the barn work, well that hunting is not for me as much as the digging is. my two cents .

Im guessing and only guessing and putting this out there as pure theory based on nothing, but give this one a try. Bull lurchers maybe maybe have less fire up in them when things are still and fire up more when the chase is on? and im saying making the comparison to bull patt cross, as the terrier already brings in a fair amount of grit on its own, and then dump in the bull blood and that stew seems a lil more DA . take the bull out of the math both ways and see how those types , 1) terrier , always ready for a scrap 2) lurcher, quiet until the quarry bolts and then the fire inside gets unleashed. like I say no science just bs logic but I thought Id share it anyway.

from the patterdales iv known they always seem eager for a scrap if something challenges them, i give one down my street a very wide berth its a lunatic and size does not even come into its head when it explodes, gotta love its attitude!!

my feelings about the bull blooded patt, and im a North american ground hog hunter. Why are you adding size to the terrier? hows that old saying go? not the size of the dog but the size of the fight in the dog. putting two game dogs in a box is way different than dropping a hunting terrier in an earth against whatever mother nature has in that earth. the mother nature side of the scrap is only going to fight as hard as it needs to have the heat shut off. over sized over hard hunting terriers are not for me. the amount of game put up consistantly over an entire hunting season is in the hunt terriers favor over the criss crossed terrier. its not pure science i have to back me up, but think this way, smaller size gets to more game. hunting nose over criss crossed nose finds more game. intelligence over blind fury makes a more reliable worker week in week out, it just depends how healthy you are and how much work you want to do to get to your dog that day. to each his own....
