Realising this Forum is called Gamedog I love reading about the hard core breeders and owners of sporting dogs, Showing, Weight-pulling etc. Personally I'm not into any type of competition with my dog, so why do I only want game-bred? Eg the Thoroughbred and Quarter horses are the two best performance breeds for racing and cutting.99% will never win a Rodeo or Kentucky Derby. But anyone who wants the best horse for eventing, brains and pleasure will try to get the best bred performer they can afford. I love dogs and the APBT IMO is the best. Border Collies are often rated the smartest breed,99% have probably never seen a sheep but make excellent companions just like Pitbulls who've never seen a box. When buying my pup I want the best only Game bred no Fat Staffs or Blue nose Hippos thanks. Most failed pit dogs are probably 10 times better than any other breed. There's different types of owners breeders etc, I own because I want the ultimate friend. My bitch won't live on a 8 foot tractor chain she'll be as well socialized and trained as possible. Will never go in the box, I couldn't stand losing my best friend. The hypocritical part is when I,m walking my ordinary (to the untrained eye) dog past the impressive looking flavour of the month big tough dog,I'm thinking is my bitch the next Jeep or Jimmy Boots we'll never know.

you mean that the hypocritical part is that you talk smack about people who own these big mutts as a status symbol and here your talking about how you walk around and think that your little "game" dog might be the baddest dog to ever live, in other words your also walking around with a status symbol?

The hypocritical part is I love owning a game bred dog but I'll never personally game test it , and I won't be breeding thats for the experts.

imo it doesn't make any sense to take a working animal and try to make it strictly a pet. they need a job todo.

agreed, dogs are happiest when doing what they were bred for. working dogs need to work. You can get a smart dog like that from the pound tbh.

Get a nice looking bully mix from the shelter, you'll have a friend for life.

You are not a hypocrite. It sounds like you are typical petbull owner. They love to point out the good dogs in the pedigree, but never know what they are feeding. You assume what you have at the end of the leash is the next great one. When in all probability you have just another everyday shit eating cur.

Damned if you do, damned if you don't.

You are going to catch some type of heat if you own a dog of questional background like a bully type...
yet if your dog came down from parents who were tested they tell you to just get a bully

You aren't breeding your dogs and acknowledge that you don't have any business doing that and just want to enjoy your dog so +1 for you.

The key is to be a responsible owner or breeder. And i see alot more responsability in being a breeder because you need the tools and knowledge to do this.

There is alot of stuff you can do with your dog, not all of us have the tools, time, space, money and experience to breed dogs, so we just enjoy them and sure they are happy.

Whoever thinks those dogs cant make a good pet, shouldnt own or breed a single dog, but i agree you need to give them a job to keep them balanced and happy.

For me the pit bull is the only breed....I am on #2 getting ready for #3...1 was a "bully" it was ok but not a true game/APBT. dog.#2 is outstanding and is a great pet.I also have a SBT that is not a slob and is very "active" and from outstanding stock.I love to try to educate people about them....and how awesome they are....the problem is that a bully, mix etc. are probubly the reason we have so many issues in society with APBT.APBTS tend to not attack or bite people.Throw in some different blood/mutt etc. and thats were the problem comes....I agree that having a true Pit is best and I do not want shit....This time around I am getting the very best quality I can.....I dont want a pound dog...Period! I have been around "GAME" Pits, they are fine dogs they just dont really like other dogs....the difference is....well you know just different.I am no breeder or expert, but just going by my experiance which is limited...

    I agree!!
For goodness sakes people. He was just saying that he was day dreaming if his dog was possible a great one, since she came from good stock.
    What's wrong with that?

    Naustroms CH Dog

nothing wrong with daydreaming. just don't see a point in getting a working animal (of any breed of dog or type) and not planning on giving it a job. plenty of things make fine pets. a high strung animal down from working stock enjoys working. not being cooped in a house or simply a trophy at the end of a rope.

Ain't nothing wrong with it. It is sort of like me dreaming that my half ton truck can pull as much weight as a semi. It is not wrong, but it is still a long way from right and bit retarded. Plain and simple they are not the same. Just like a pampered, coddled petbull is not the same as jeep. The comparison kind of cheapens what the great dogs and their owners accomplished. I would not expect the masses here to understand.

    LMAO.
you want your dog to got Your back.

It's your responsibility as a parrent or pet owner not to get into trouble in the streets, just cause you have to take care of a living creature period.
and if you do you should be able to handel it yourself, (like a man) its people like you that get these dogs into maneaters and give the media a stiff dick.
