ive noticed that alot of the heavy inbred/linebred dogs are smaller... is this part of the vigor that ppl talk about? Im just asking because it seems to me that outcrosses or when breed two dogs that maybe line bred or even in-bred but not like each other the pups seem bigger than the parents or am i just tripping???

Usually yes they tend to get smaller. And the # of pups in the litters get smaller too
    at least my dogs anyways.
Hybrid vigor is when two different lines that has separate but locked in traits are mated. It's like an explosion of genes and they tend to be bigger, and a lot of times healthier than there parents.
Hopefully they get the best of both worlds from the two lines crossed!

i love that bolio stuff man!!!!

yea... thats the best i could equate vigor too... while looking at the peds of some mbrs and pics accompanying them i see that alot of the tighter dogs are smaller... here with the dog men we have more of a combine system (im in the city & you cant really house 6 dogs let alone 50) so the dogs may be the same blood but its almost a different family so to speak so when they mate dogs they tend to be 45-50lb dogs.... more like battle crosses i guess

    Hi, Bullnuts!
You have correctly described in his message inbreeding depression and heterosis.
Tell me, how much weight the dog is meant by the smaller weight (in numbers, please)? And yet - write, medium and heavy weight for the APBT.
    Best regards

I member postin somethin similar to this...In my experiences over the years I'd have to say yes inbred/linebred dogs do tend to come out smaller....but I've also seen this go either way so I'd have to say it depends on a couple factors: the bloodline...the feed an care of the pups...an the owners which falls n with the las 1 but thats JMO. I say that cuz LB...if we get bulldogs from da same litter...on the same day...u feed raw/dry mix 5x's/day...while I feed str8 dry only 2-3x's/day....there will be a difference n the size an build of the 2. So I think inbreedin/linebreeding CAN produce smaller dogs but I don't think thats the only thing factoring in. again JMO

but do you think you could have that big of a variance in the overall look of the dog if they're both properly being taken care... if with the feeding that you described my dogs coat my be shiner than yours and he may have more energy but do you think it could be lets say a 20lb difference between the two just off feed alone(we all know sometimes you may get an abnormally big dog or a small one that differs from your normal breeding program)

    why is that Lee D?

i know its not an exact science but the more heavily inbred dogs ive seen have been smaller dogs... linebreeding is different to a degree i think because you can line breed then out cross with the same family and its still the same line of dogs 2 an extent (wrong or right?)

size of a dog does'nt depend on the feed unless their fat . it's all in the real old stock being smaller and now day they have these 60+ lbs dogs . people now days think it's normal to have a big dog . inbreeding you still have size if you don't try to breed for smaller dogs . linebreeding is the same .
