Akitas

Anyone here have experience with this breed? im thinking about getting one in the future and id like to know first hand from akita owners what they are like...

 

They get very big!...a damn good watch dog!...they are very protective!....they will destroy anybody they don't kno if that is wat u please!!...very smart, not all that athletic but athletic enough!...I think the Chinese used them for fighting not for sure!...they are game dogs aswell!..they make good pets!...a friend of mines has one and he is mean as fukk!!...I think they can get over the 150lb weight to!!....good breed of dogs just depends on wat u want them for

I was bitten as a kid......aint no dog comming near me since i was given a travellers game pup 30 years ago. Keep them curs on a lead.

Not at all. They are fiercely bonded with their immediate family and aloof and cold to strangers - but they are not like a parrot, they bond with their entire family. They could just care less for the attention of a stranger.

 

I lived with an Akita for 12 years so I am speaking from my experience. The dogs allegiance was to the family but the only one he truly bonded to was my mom.

 

Akita's are very silent dogs, They are Known as a outstanding protection Dogs. I have a Friend that Use 2 raise them. Mr. Kirby of Hardwood Kennels in Cades S.C. One of His stud Males Got off the chain, Climbed In a PEN with a Pair OF Germon Rottweilers, And Killed Them Both. Mr Kirby stopped breeding these dogs. Athough No breed in my opinion will perform better than a REAL APBT, Akita's would be a Good Dog. They are a Japanese Bear hunting, Fighting Dog . They are 1 of 10 purebred Japanese dogs. P.S. Why Not Get You A Colby APBT Instead !

 

Akitas are a bit hit or miss, some make great companion/protection dogs, others will wander away and never come back as soon as someone leaves the gate open. If you love cats and Chow dogs you'd probably like Akitas.

 

Had a pair years ago. Very dominant dogs, the female would do a handstand at corners and piss as high as she could.

 

They are the complete opposite to bulldogs, they are so laid back it's unreal. They are a very dominant breed with other dogs, I've owned two.

 

How bad was the shedding with akitas?

 

Much wore than a bulldog.

 

They have to be outside. Mine were inside, the hair would be in food, drinks, everything.
