I feel that but everybody doesn't get harassed by the IRS...I don't care if I get papers or not because I like bulldogs!!...the thing that gets me is ppl are bringing this paper thing up alot now from here to Fedsonline and I'm dumb founded by it!...I mean u really got dudes thinking (not all) that just cause their hounds doesn't have papers it's a monster!!...a bulldog is a bulldog nomatter if it has papers or not!!..u will always have honest dudes and u will always have crooks nomatter wat u do!...say I go broke one day and I'm want to sell a couple of my hounds to get some cash..guess wat??...I can sell u any damn thing u want and tell I don't do papers..now u have a dog that u have no idea how it is bred but u are on Fedsonline saying u have this and it really isn't that, now this dog will go down as saying it's this bloodline when in all actuality u have a apbt from the dog shelter!....and I kno the same can be done with papers I'm just saying it's going to be even easier to hang dogs in the future!!...I guarantee in the future the history of this dogs will go to shit because u have ppl out there that are just not honest and when times get rough u can't say wat a person will do to get a little change!...look at VA!!...he getting ppl everyday!!..they sending money to him and he's not sending them shit!..just taking there money!!...ppl are losing thousands!...lol..go on fedsonline and look at the ppl that is getting got by so called dogmen!...papers are useful to look at the history of ur dogs but I do feel why some don't register but if u don't register atleast do ur own registry so the history won't fade...this is just my opinion but do anybody feel wat I'm saying??...I mean am I wrong for thinking like this??

if your honest with yourself . then you will know the history of your dogs . they been hand writing peds forever . i wrote peds for people that wanted a dog adba registered and they registered them and it was on the back of a paper bag . now i have'nt sold a dog in 26 years and everyone thinks they need the papers . you only need hand writen for yourself . and DON'T SEND ANY MONEY TO VA . THERE IS NO MORE DOGS . SOUTHERN KENNELS IS GONE SOMEONE MAY SAY THEY ARE . BUT ALL OF VA'S DOGS ARE GONE .

these days i think you have more people breeding papers to papers than anything else. at least thats what the online bulldoggers are doing when they feel like posting peds of breedings they do or plan on doing. one thing to keep in mind about papers is that it adds at least a little bit of credibility to your bloodline claim. without papers you can say your dog is mayday reborn and people just have to take your word for it. papers dont mean everything by any means but its reassuring to lots of folk. another thing that comes to mind is that when you make a breeding you like to know exactly what ingredients youre putting in the stew, so to speak. i would be reluctant to pay the stud fee for any male dog unless i was intimately familiar with his lineage. unless of course i was really impressed by your dog and didnt mind hanging papers on the pups to sell and make money....which i am not.

Have to agree, all depends what a guy wants papers for, if you want to see how the dog was bred and how far back it goes great, and i can tell you first hand a guy who just wrote the pedigree,s down was ole lester hughes, never got any adba papers from him years ago, not to say i couldnt get any , just was never brought up, so i would agree that you really have to trust who your getting the dog from and his word, most good breeders are in buisness for a reason, i would stay away from fly by night peddelers, also i think the thing with papers is alot of guys want the proof, cause some can talk up bloodlines all day long about a mut, cause lets be honest, not everyone out there is a man of their word. so go out and breed him and dont worry about shit.

It is really a sellers tool. If you are in the sports you don't need it. Your dog can be an amstaff but if he can get his job done on the [] then he is more bulldog that those papered pets!

Papers just tell you how the dog is supposedly bred nothing more nothing less.

Re: How valueable is a dog with no papers?

Norman wrote me this long ago on Bracketteville stationary:
Truth in breeding shown in correct pedigrees are important to those that wish to continue with a solid, honest breeding program.
Norman like everyone felt dog thieves were garbage. The one thing I admired was his broad scope of thought that included paper hangers as a worst and cowardly version of a dog thief. A little thought and one can see the logic behind his concept. As the paper hanger robs the heritage of someone elses work and costs future breeders a terrible time and expense loss for generations without placing himself in any physical and legal jeopardy.
Sure, great dogs have emerged from paperhangers and dog thieves. But, I agree with Norman, it would have benefited the breed and breeders if correct pedigrees existed to study for intelligent breeding choices.

Dogs are dogs, but knowing where they come from is the key. I know people that do not even register their dogs with any registry.

You are missing my point. I would agree of course that there are papered Ch's GrCh's out there. What I'm saying is that in the sport.. papers don't matter.

We all do!...but u can't put ur trust in man!!...man has lied from the begging of time so for me to believe everything a man says is foolish!...I kno of good, honest dogmen that turned bad for the money!!..without papers u truly setting urself up to be had when the times comes!!...it will be real easy!!...money is truly evil!!...it has corrupted the best of honest men!...all I'm saying is papers do mean something other than peddling dogs and peddlers have sold some of the best dogs in history!!...

If you know what you got and you know what you are doing, that's the only thing that matter.

I honestly believe real doggers don't care about ped's, it does go to the man's word..... I've seen both sides of the coin and all dogs familes eventually fall out of registry anyways it seems, the dog shows and different papered activities have saved this breed more than once..... I've always said another registry needs to come about for us to bandwagon on, dual registry adba. And aadr? I dunno, personally I always thought A.G.R. american gamedog registry lmao papers really only matter to the guy with the eye for breeding,
