A dog in a stifle hold looks great, but extreamely stupid while searching for the stifle. A good clever head dog should be able to win over a stifle dog anytime. Dogs seems to go for the stifle when he has one in his stifle. I guess the one with the softest mouth will release his hold before the other one. So if you have a stifle dog, then he must be bale to close his mouth, otherwise his hold is useless. Many people have good head dogs, but condition the strength away and that is why their head dogs can not weather the storm of an attacking stifle dog. Millmakers Keep is great, but messed up alot of dogmen's dogs who can not alter keeps to suit their dogs.

the good ones didn't just zero in on the backend. they'd wait till it was open & rent a room. once the door close they party like led zeplin. dogs like bottleneck would systematicly breakdown then hit the back door. same as a porn star good head then hit the backend & the money shot.

    Limey,
That's what I am saying. If you have a solid head dog with a good mouth. It's hard for a dog to make it to the stifle much less breath with holes in the muzzle.
Weather a dog breaths through it's nose or mouth doesn't matter. Run water into your nose and try and breath. You can't, you'll choke first. Several good dogs have been lost to head dogs that can peel them out or punch holes through the muzzle hitting bleeders on the way in. This causes the opponent to choke and their lungs to fill with blood. Breathing through the nose isn't going to help in this situation. JMO

    Dunlap 1 no prob..
But there is a story to tell about all the diferend stiles!!. There is always a better animal, and always a dog for a sirtin animal. i used the historical Nelis eczample vs Sting. as it whent as you discribed, revenge was sweet from his brother CH Ringo. because if a Hard mouthed head dog faces a animal that hase a equal hard mouth and WILL push true in the corner and comes in, then its the other way around. and over a hell of a lot quiker.
personal upinions and ecsperienses are as many around as assholles and you know everybody hase one!!!!.
fact is that a head dog wil NEVER take the same abuse a stifel dog will take, a head dog wil quit ore loose a hell of a lot sooner if he cant play his game from the get go. you should ask your self wil a animal of any stile take what he is able to dish out!!,... if so then you got a good one
as for steering dogs in , i seen plenty of those...
coinsedence in this topic hase it that one of our bred animals faced F Bill when he was suporting the others.
befor the show on a visit A,s was showing off how he could stear jye with snapping his fingers and had jye got from one place on the hide to another in a split sec. and said that how jye thuse it with every animal he faced (and Jye came with a reputation).... my mentor at the time said A, VERY IMPRESIF to say the least but HIDES dont bite BACK.
F Bill lost his eurnings the day of the show.. and whent home broke as we al have!!! at least ones. that Animal witch took FB walled was LK CH Alligator. he was as bad a stifel animal as you could find and no he wassend static but a upertunist. Later he faced CC Kennels CH Sunny sunny who uptil that momend in his career never made a bad move nor a turn and had shows ranging from 15 upto 3 hours. he was a bad head animal. when he faced Alligator on the first momend of release Alligator charged forward at lightning speed and like a gladiator he twisted his head past sunny on the side and hit him massif hard high in the stifel with his muzzle inbetween his private parts and his inner stifel at the first go. needless to say Sunny made the first turn in his life at the 3sec mark!!!. the rest is history!!!!. and produced in the varius history books .The best stifel animal i ever saw was a Beast called Tusker!! but thats another story altho historicel not published in the history books yet. point is every stile hase its greats..

  17. Kelbone is correct about the Millmaker conditioning to a dogs strengths, but what most people do not know is that he had a method for teaching dogs to go to the stifle almost on command. He shows it some in his last video, but doesn't go in to detail. Years ago I saw him use this method while working a dog, and it trains the dog to go to the stifle. He would snap his fingers and the dog would go to the backend every time. Yes, I like a smart dog, but it is also true that if you take out the back end there is no forward power. There is no perfect style or a perfect dog, that is why I speak highly of the smart dogs theyt know where to go to end it quick and they know to stay away from there opponents business end(or do the best they can at staying away).

With all due respect sir I do not agree that a head dog will quit before a stifle dog or vise versa. I think it has more to do with the individual. I think you can have DG dogs from all styles and bloodlines as well. I agree with most of your post but I dont think a blanket statement can be layed over a whole style like that. I feel like theres plenty of head dogs out there who can take he punishment they dish out.

  20. Also I left this out, there are many that will take more punishment on the backend than on the head. To put it simply let one get on the head and see how fast they scurry to get their opponent off, on the other hand when they get in the backend there never seems to be the same sense of urgency to get them out.
