How do you treat a dog for this. Can you give him a laxative or something else.I believe my dog is little backed up.If I had the money I would take him to the Vet. But i'm a little strapped right now so any help would be appreciated.

The country way is take'em for a walk & 9 times outta ten they'll eat some grass, which should take care of it.

Walking as stated above does help... to much inactivity can cause constipation, inappropriate feeding, confinement, or traveling. Medicinal liquid paraffin may be given at the dose of one teaspoonful for a 30 lb dog (10ml)

That or some Medmucil... I heard it works...

  5. You want him to go? Give the dog milk. Do not dilute it in water. You will see him going in a few hours. Promise.

Give him maybe about a tablespoon of canned pumpkin ( not pie filling) , it works for both constipation and diarrea.......ground pumpkin seeds are also a good natural wormer.....

Are you sure that he is constipated and his bowel isn't twisted or lodged with an object? If you know 100% sure that anything above isn't possible then you can proceed with a few of these "remedies". You can wet the wood end of a match stick with a little KY or grease and insert it 1" into his anus leaving the match head sticking out externally. That will cause him to deficate within a few minutes. If that doesn't work you need to make sure his bowel isn't twisted or he has an impact in his bowel tract and for that you are going to need xrays (the sooner the better).

    Regards,

I was a little concerned because he only had one bowel movement yesterday and he usually has about 3-4 I took him for a nice long walk last night cause that usaully does the trick but nothing. So I toook him again this morning and nothing but I took for a walk around 11am and he went. Then around 4 pm he went again twice so I dont think he's clogged up anymore I think it might of been from a piece of rawhide chew. But thanks for everyones suggestions.I appreciate it.
