Rights being infringed upon is not a problem limited to dogs and is not caused by people selling them lol.

The problem is that there is even a vote for shit like this. One million people should not be able to vote an individuals rights away and one individual should not be able to vote away the rights of millions. That is the problem. If you're out numbered then you're done and nothing else matters. we are out numbered..simple as that. If you really think shit would be different for people if dog attacks decreased by 50%... thats like saying the gun debate would change if murders decrease...new york city anyone? lol. new york 80's vs new york now? decrease in murders by like a thousand. gun laws? they have the most strict besides chicago.

basically, doesnt matter what you do.. it is always going to be an uphill battle.

 

I started reading about the APBT around 92,back then in my part of the country not many people even owned one.Fast foward to now and it's hard to run into a person who doesn't know somebody that owns a pit bull.The dogs are being over-bred.If you don't think that contributes to heat brought on the breed then I really can't understand what your saying.I'm sure there are always going to be people who want to ban guns but when some dipshit leaves his gun out so his kid can grab it...then that not helping anything."peddling" these dogs will be the final nail in the coffin."The people selling them" do bare responsibility that's not an opinion it's a fact.

 

Just to make it clear...I'm not talking about making any laws or anything like that.I'm just saying when the APBT does become illegal to own it won't be the breeds fault...that blame can rest on the breeders,foolish owners and peddlers.

 

Who is responsible for the shape that The American Pit Bull Terrier is in? If you are "peddling" dogs it is your right no argument there,but when the breed is ruined you can pat yourself on the back and ask yourself was the money worth it.

 

People nowadays call certain dogs an APBT too soon, or say too often they 'know' someone. People like to be a part of a conversation and in order to do so... they'll pretty much tell you everything.
I'm not saying the breed is being overbred and that there aren't more people with a pitbull nowadays... but still, people see an Amstaff or a Bull Terriër and think of a APBT.

As for example Germany!

English Bullterriers have been arround there since 1860 or so, it´s documented.
They have never been quite popular and remained in small circles of working enthusiasts that selected them extra hard as working dogs. Common believe by the cintinental Bullterrier pope Emil Hauck was that it would be better to maximum raise 10 puppies out of twenty litters than the same number out of 3.

American Staffordshire Terrier or Staffordshire Bullterrier didn´t even exist until the late 60´s / early 70´s and even though remained in small circles.

As the media hysteria started in the United States concerning dogfights etc. the first article about this topic was published in GEO in 1976. Now this got some peoples attention!

The Netherlands have been one step ahead........ So the first American Pit Bullterriers came over the Netherlands into Germany some also from the UK. Direct imports have been near to zero at that time.

As many people liked to own the baddest ass arround back in those days, concerning protective dogs, people mean dogs etc. there have been more people wanting these dogs than have been available.

Also far too many people wanted such a dog for the wrong reasons.

So the amateur dogfighting scene grew incredibly during the 80´s and also pretty bad accidents happened. At the end of the 90´s you couldn´t save you from all those cross bred mixed up AmStaf / Bullterrier Pitbull mutts aswell as far too many of the so called serious breeders produced only to serve the market.
So as you have had the opportunity to be pretty picky on who gets a dog from you you simply didn´t care anymore or just had the pressure to sell because you produced far too many puppies.

During this time some serious dogmen and kennels also evolved but they have been the minority.

Almost in every small village you could find some troublemakers and a Pitbull mutt!

Finally in 1991 the first BSL came out.

Within the first suits we could get rid of them except in Bavaria!

After that the market even more started to boom!

Believe me, I do love these breeds dearly but I was shocked and saddened to see what was going on!

The majority of all the breeders, peddlers, BYB´s and owners have been working on the downfall of the breed probably much better than any PETA activist would ever be able to do!

So am I concerned about peddlers and BYB´s? You could bet your live for it!

Peddlers and BYB´s are like cancer!!!!!!!!!

Also peole like TG and others that are running what I consider nothing but a puppy mill are far away from being what is asked of a serious dogmen!

 

I havent read the whole thread but imo a peddler is a backyard breeder that dont know shit about what he is doing and only doing it for the money and to rip people of their hard earned money.

The other big breeders is imo just that Breeders and not peddlers.
