theoretically because the longer the night. the odds go down at going home. that's why a rough one could make rank fast. mouth would make a fella think twice about losing his good dog lol. rj/os would make folks prove there stuff. i know homer & sandman would be my house dog lol.

Lol ok i just wanted to get your perspective I think a dead game dog is probably more rare if they have truly met there match. I know some dogs like rosemary could do damage quickly with a bite Like a crocodile lol.

depends why they lost like i said before if i am picking up then the dog aint fighting back no more if my dog ius on bottom dont mean he is gettin killed as long as he is in hold and trying to get to his feet im talkming about dogs that are lying there gettin chewed on and draged around shgowing they got nothin left, u said wat is the point of losers well what is the point of a yard of dead dogs why take the dog an extra mile for the win just to lose him after, if stp had lost back after that match then who gives a shit about the win, now ben u have stated these dogs are like cattle to u and thats fine but i get real close with my dogs and spend a lot of time with each of them, and to me they are friends and when where in that box i got to have my friends back, now in life i will let my friends fighgt but i would not sit there and watch one get his ass kicked.

I just think to say the only game dog is a dead game dog would discredit a shit load of dogs throughout the history of our breed who earned the right to be called game. Ben I see your point about dead game dogs I think that is very high honor when there was just no way to prevent them from dying when they finally met their match. But I think a good dog man should care about his dogs and want the best for them greed can get the best of all of us as we are only human but you can't watch these dogs fight day in and day out the way the do and not have some kind of bond with them. I see no reason for a good dog to die if it can be prevented JMO of course.

Losers Pool Hall Red was picked up in 27 minutes because she didn't look right and was spent.PHR went on to win her championship after that and along the way she was picked up against a dog in a little over an hour because they (the dogs was swapping it out) and taking a lot of damage and the other dogs owner would not agree to a draw so he picked PHR up because he didn't want to lose her.IJ almost lost her but PHR made it and went on to win another and produced very well.I will take a loser like her anytime.Thats just one case in point many others to be saved to go own and win and produce as well.It all depends on what u want out of it.If you want to breed game dogs then you save them when they have done all they can.Now if you are just a gambler, and are betting on the other dog quitting thats different. The gamblers that won't pick their dog up at all is a problem and don't care about breeding game dogs.Because you can't breed a game dog.

Grate post Redrum! My thought on the Dogman vs the Gambler is that generally im assuming ( just an assumption as i dont have much experience myself still with the dogs ) that the gambler will generally have much less success with these dogs as they are generally interested only in the money and have lil interest in what the bulldog is truelly about.

PHR quit It was stated in a magazine that IJ picked her up at 37 minutes(not 27 minutes). This was stated in an older magazine that PHR scratched hard and Don picked Easy up. PHR vs.Queenie went 1:09 and IJ threw in the towel, both bitches scratched hard. Now this is what was printed in a magazine back in the day.Now if that is wrong is someone out there that say the truth on both PHR loses?

Thanks BB and Capo and others. Does anyone on here aspire to own and breed "almost" or "nearly" game dogs? If so then bravo that is were this thread and said dogs are headed(bullies). I like gameness, and I would like to tip my hat to all those who have what it took and takes to achieve these goals in these dogs. If we owe these dogs anything would it not be honesty and the chance to be what they are(or what we hope they are), and that is game animals. Everyone wants to say gameness but no- one wants to see it? And all joking aside sorry to offend but it aint a pretty business for the faint at heart. Yes good animals have been lost, due to being left down to long but they took it and longed for more, why should we taint it by trying to put a human standard on it, or try and make it more humane, as if it is a bad thing? it is what it is. As for PHR I believe one loss was due to an opponent cheating. Also OS never said lie to yourself/your dogs or bring a curr to the show either , these men knew their dogs and most were highly tested pre match.

A cur and a deep game dog are two different things. If all you ever do is look for the very bottom end of a dog, your gonna find one of two things..a cur or a dead dog...what good is either? If that's your method how do you still own any dogs at all, unless of course your keeping the curs.Sure i would love to have a dog that made a dying scratch and loving it but it ain't gonna happen. Some times you have to use common sense,or have an eye for a good dog, maybe some lack one,or the other or both?I thought the idea was to have the best dogs that you could, and to keep moving forward with it,how are you gonna do that when your culling everything that curs, and killing everything that dosen't?

  16. He wasnt the one that handled homer! Homer was lended out to 2 bastards that didnt know annything about annything.

When homer was destroyed O.stevens cam down to the pit and peptalked homer and homer was down at that time.

And the truth and lies are two different things. My post was pretty clear, If you are so afraid of the bottom line you steer clear you will never know the truth-it does not mean all dogs go to heaven, it means if you are so afraid of losing future breedings how can you honestly know what is going on? I would hope to look for the truth in my dog no matter what that may be.
Saturday night, UFC Edgar vs Maynard, could have been stopped, some say it should have been stopped-it wasn't and we saw a game one come from the bottom and whip some ass.

because any dogman worth a damn does not need to see his dog take his death to know he is game. the truth is there will always be a question to if ur dog is game or not unless it actually takes its death because i do not care if your dog took a two hour face chewing he may quit the next time out in five but once my dog goes through that he aint goin out again, most gr ch and ch did not take killings in the pit theyu may have taken beatings but they were not destroyed to thye near brink of death and brought out again because most no that one real tough battle and i dont mean time based i mean damage based takes a lot out of a dog and if he went through that well then he is game enough keep bringing ur dogs to the brink of death and u will no longer have a blood line good dogmen know gameness is rear so when they see it they save it.

good post.By some of yalls definition a dog will only be game if it scratches then dies.If not whos to say he didnt just cur out and take his death and whos to say that if said dog lived he wouldnt cur or stop next time out.See u can only really be Satisfied with the gameness your dog has displayed and that has to be good enough because u never no what will happen the next time out.Its always smarter to live to fight another day And i doubt many of us would die in a fight we clearly cant win instead of realising there r battles and there r wars. And i would rather win the war.If u send your troops to the death to win every battle what will u have left to win the war.A dogmas war is his family of dogs standing the test of time.If all deep game ones die in battle then where does the future come from
