  1. Hey guys,

I registered in this board, hoping to find other Pitbull fans...

Like I said, I live in Euope... nevertheless I registered in this Forum because people in my country still have a very stereotypical view on Pitts...

When i mention the word "Pitbull" in my country, people associate it with "thugs" "dog fighting" and "agressive killer machines"...
Hardly anyone knows how awesome Pitbulls can actually be...

    Even the goverment banned Pitbulls;
it's illegal over here to import or breed them...
The only way to get one, is filling out a formula asking you city for permission to keep a "dangerous dog" and give reasonable arguments why you want to hold a "dangerous dog"...

Yeah... you read that right... Pitbulls are defined as "dangerous dogs" by the law and banned from the country...!

I applied for a permit to keep a "dangerous" dog, my argumentation was that I want to rescue a dog from an animal shelter and give it a home...
(Wich are the only animals left for me after the ban...)

    But thats not all...
In order to register an dangerous dog, we have to pay over a 1000$, just to get it registered...
    for a "non-Pitbull" its like 150 Bucks...

I guess you have an Idea what our society thinks of Pitbulls...

Nevertheless I convined myself of how awesome Pitbulls actually are, by visiting multiple animal shelters, and decided to get one as our family dog...

Thats how i ended up here, hoping that people in America have a less stereotypical view on Pitbulls...

People really shoudn't be judging Pitts like that... thats why my username...
my Pit is ging to be an Uncondemned Soul

hi.. that's a shame but you could import a apbt from any surrounding country. iv driven trough germany and all its borders with dogs no problem. would it work to register it as a legal mix dog? after just keep it on low for a bit. don't be walking in to much public or tell everyone whats it original breed. shelter dogs can be great to, and if you find yourself a nice one and sort the legal paper work, that would be a more steady option.

  9. Hi,
    Thanx for the welcome!

    Hey,
Yeah... imporing it isn't the problem... but it'd be impossible to register it...
The registration is checked pretty frequently (especially with pits) so that the dog would end up in a shelter, and I woudn't be allowed to hold dogs anymore...

The thing is that I dont want to risk it for the dogs sake; there to many gorgeous Pitts in our shelters because of people who tried stuff...But like I said.. our shelters have great dogs of wich I will chosse one...

Who is in charge of registering the dog? Who identifies the dog? Gamedogs vary so much in appearance, some people do not even realize they are in tyhe presence of a game dog sometimes. It couldnt be registered as some type of short hair mix? Just curious, I have no clue about how your country works.
