    CH. HUCKLEBERRY

I acquired Huckleberry when he was only 14 months old. PITDOG called to tell me that some guys in North Carolina had a son of "Two Eyes" and "CH Arangadanga" for sale. So the following morning, I got in my truck and left to make a trip to North Carolina to purchase this well bred dog.

Early on, I rolled him a couple of times and liked what I saw. But since I had not seen an pressure on him I decided to put a 57 pound dog, that we had bought from Stanley Wilkes (CH Stone & Charlene), on Huckleberry.

It was no contest since Huck broke him down in a few minutes. Within 25 minutes it was completely over since the big dog showed later to be dead game.

I finally had to push about 15 pounds to get him tested. After his test I opened him up locally and it didn't take long to get a response. Airbourne Kennels called and wanted to go at 51 pounds and I agreed and then it was on. Airbourne Kennels was using a dog named "Chief", who was said to have terminated two dogs before in less than 30 minutes.

"CHIEF" came out smoking, it took "HUCK" a while to catch up, but when he did he made "CHIEF" pay. At 1:00 "CHIEF" scratches to continue. Airbourne Kennels picks "CHIEF" up at 1:56 and he won't scratch. There weren't any turns so the only scratch Huckleberry had to make was his courtesy.

Huck was hurt pretty bad, it took almost a year for him to heal completely. After his recovery, he was open and I couldn't get him hooked. I called "Pit Dog" and within an hour we had him matched. "Pit Dog" had agreed to work him for this one. About three weeks out "Pit Dog" called and said I was hooked into "CH SLICK"...... a well known killer!
"CH SLICK" had just came off a big win over a 3X winner. (AKEEM'S BOBBY).

    2. GA TOM'S "HUCKLEBERRY" V/S LATIN BOYS "CH SLICK"
    REF: TANT M: 50 LBS

"SLICK" came out hard and put "HUCK" on his back for 30 minutes. A turn was called on Huck at 33 minutes to get the scratching started. The met in the middle with Huck getting the better of the swapping this time. On the next scratch, "SLICK" stumbled across a quick handle with "HUCK" to go and he nails "SLICK" in his corner. The final scratch is on "SLICK" and he won't go. "HUCKLEBERRY" 2X WINNER (This is the same night that "GR CHAMPION VIRGIL" WON HIS CHAMPIONSHIP).

Eight months went by and I had collected two forfeits, when Krazy Side called. They had a 52 pound dog that they wanted to do in 4 weeks at a 4-Dog Show. I agreed and once again, it was on. Me, Huck and a couple of buddys drove across 4 states in 11 hours to the show.

    3. GA TOM'S "HUCKLEBERRY" V/S KRAZY SIDES "HOOCH"
    REF: GAMBLER M: 52 LBS

Dogs met hard in the middle but "HUCKLEBERRY" had too much of everything for "HOOCH" and L.J. picks up at 48 minutes and "HOOCH" won't scratch. Huck flies across on his courtesy.

During his campaigning we called out the best big dogs on the east coast. Usually with no response or some excuse. I have since retired Huck due to some injuries and the fact that he has no other living litter mates. He retired an undefeated champion and lives the life of a king in my yard.

/ would like to thank "PITDOG" for all his help and support and thanks to "VALLY BOY JEFF" for his help with the first keep.

This is a 'kick myself in the ass' story from years ago. Huckleberry was bred to Hannah and had a male and female for sale. I tire-kicked around when I had the opportunity and when I decided to pull the trigger it was too late. Both turned out rather nicely. Great family of dogs, dogs that got better as the night went on. A lot like Two Eyes he got better as the water got deeper. That is as good a bulldog trait as there is out there. S
