Whiskey Bay's miracle!

It seems most of y'all know about what happened to Whiskey Bay & her family during Hurricane Katrina's wrath. But just when you think things can't go worse, a miracle occurs. And in this case it's one worth me writing about.

Almost a year ago, Whiskey Bay had a litter of pups off of her favorite dog, Blue. There was a cute little champagne & white female that she sold to a guy here in southeast Louisiana. She was much loved by her new family & grew up beautifully. Then things changed. Hurricane Katrina struck & destruction ensued. This poor dog found her self all alone trying to find her way back to her owner all the while he was looking for her. Two (3?) long weeks went by. Then by the grace of God, he found her. She was tired, hungry, & injured, but she was alive. He took her to where his family was staying with another family, but that family (the host family) wasn't fond of the dogs because of their cats. But needless to say, despite much money, her owner cared for her & helped her get back into good shape. This is where things get interesting. Her owner & Whiskey got into contact & since he has decided to move to California with his family, he offered her Terror back. At a point when Whiskey thought she had lost it all, Blue's pup has been found & given back to her!

But right now, Whiskey's living situation still doesn't allow her to have another dog with her. So yesterday I met Terror's (we kinda call her "Tara"...to us cajuns "Terror" comes out like "Terra" anyways) owner & brought her to her temporary home. I brought her to work with me & a vet & I gave her a good workover. Her owner told me she was limping on her right leg & had been since the hurricane. After vaccinating her, we knocked her out & x-rayed her leg. Bless her heart, we found that she had fractured her femoral head & possibly has a torn ACL in the right leg. But in true APBT fashion, she's walking, jumping, & playing like she could care less!

So last night I brought her home. I expected her to be nervous, but boy was I wrong! She ran around a few times, found a treat ont he floor & with it in her mouth, jumped onto the couch & lied down in my husband's lap. She has been an angel. I introduced her to Whiskey (W.B.'s namesake) as he's a very submissive male & boy if they hit it off! All last night they "made out" between the kennel bars & today they played & played rolling over in the grass.

right on. glad to see some good come out of all the disaterous storms. also i'd like to say i wish i had a friend like Mia Koda. your a good example of a great person.

good to hear something is going right for a change

 

OMG...How did I not see this before now? Here it is years later and it made me tear up.I still thank you Mia for everything.Unfortunately Terra is no longer with us.She passed away with no previous signs or clues anything was wrong.She lived a very happy active life.She was almost 6 when she passed.I have not had any APBT for awhile.My heart was kinda out of it.But I do have 3 now.One male that was given to me after the storm I had farmed out to a friend for awhile.Well,he wasn't taking care of him like I liked.(Not mistreating or abusing or anything.Just no attention and love.So I got him back.And I had gotten one of his daughters.He's a bit bully(not a gamedog) but his daughter is real nice looking.Nice package overall for a female.Actually she's my son's dog...lol.I have a Dane now.Been contemplating on getting myself a new PBT.
