Ear cleaner

What brands of ear cleaner do you (all) recommend? I know some people make their own using vinegar.

 

i use some stuff from tractor supply its not expensive..like 7 bucks..just drop it in and they shake it out ,its worked good for me.

I wanna know for the ears how do u clean them and with what......

 

you can make your own (mix equal parts witch hazel with white vinegar and water. some add rubbing alcohol). squirt this into the ear. 'squish' it around in there (makes a notable sound) and back up and let the dog shake it all out. wipe any residual wax/crap off with a cotton ball. done.

 

i use white vinegar and rubbing alcohol mixed 50/50 just to clean, if the dog has an infection i like to use zymox.

 

50/50 vinegar and alchohol?? lol dogman of the year.....lol.....if you wanna burn the fuck out of your dogs ears do that!! lol

what you need to do is find the cause of infection...whether it be BACTERIAL,YEAST, Or Parasitic (mites)...or a combination of the 3!

go your local petco/feedstore and pick up the r7 ear kit that helps with mites & the others (bacterial,yeast)......

this stuff SHOULD cure about 80% of the ear infections you run into.........if its bad, get you a bottle of amoxxicillin and run a cycle of that in addition (if you use the antibiotics, do a full cycle..dont half ass it!) although i prefer not to use antibiotics if i dont absolutely have to....

AS A MAINTANENCE FLUSH (atleast 1once a week or whenever exposed to moisture, to prevent these things from happenening)

get a mustard/ketchup bottle (picnic table style lol)

fill 1/3 of the bottle with purified water

fill the remaining 2/3's of the bottle with 1/3 of white vinegar & 1/3 of WINTERGREEN (not white) isopropyl alchohol....

shake vigorously and aplly to ears once a week......i also apply before flushing with the store bought stuff.........

 

lace most vets will tell you to use water and vinegar . but if you have a bad case there's a medicine for humans called neotic . i got it in a sample bottle . and there's enough for 2 -3 days . and it's the best thing i ever used and i've payed good money on dogs in the last 8 years . neotic worked and it's fine . now they will also tell you after the ear is healthy to use vinegar and ALCOHOL to keep them clean . the water works but in high humidity alcohol will make the dog shake out the head just like water but drys quick . change the food to salmon and potato blend that 4health makes will fix it most of they ttime if it's from food and it's always is or enviroment .

 

yes WINTERGREEN alchohol and vinegar DILUTED w/ water is the remedy! some also use boric acid & tea tree oil but i wont go there ill keep it simple for you guys lol......all im sayin is alchohol & straight vinegar is harsh....the dilute already burns theyre ears....i can only imagine what it would feel like straight......i can personally give 2 shits what your vet tells you because ive discussed this very topic with a few of them and a handfull of vet techs...hell, i used to work with em lol..........

and the whole salmon diet thing is a blanket statement....dogs are individuals......

actually the only accurate thing in that post was that its due to diet most of the time (when deling with dogs that are properly cared for)....but the answer isnt ALWAYS fish lol.....

 

no mr. dogman fish is'nt always the answer . but it's worth a try if you keep having yeast problems . and if you worked at a vet why did'nt they tell you your dog was shedding . why did you come on here trying to find the answer . you don't live in high humidity so they may not use alcohol . the main thing is to have the ears healthy before you go putting alcohol in them .

 

I didnt work at a vet i worked at petco, our referred vet worked the nextdoor over and 2 of the girls were vet techs at my work.

As far as the shedding it had nothing to do with fish, the only thing that helped em was switching to raw. And ill admit when theres something i dont know........

But i do know THAT STRAIGHT ALCHOHOL WILL BURN THE SHIT OUTTA YOUR DOGS EARS!

 

lace i was just playing with you . the shedding was just a strange years . alot of dogs was shedding more than usual and the yeast was bad for a few years in the states with humidity . and the guy did'nt say straight alcohol he said mix it with vinegar and water . but in high humidity that water can cause problems . so if your dogs have healthy ears then clean them with something without water . q-tips work real good with alittle vinegar on it . and the fish thing it's also has something to do with a potato and not grain . remember the name NEOTIC for humans it works the best . the stuff at the vet sometimes just won't get it . but the vet here gave me a sack full of neotic .
