I have a 10 month old pup who has a somewhat dry but shiny coat with little to no shedding going on. Also his paw pads are very dry and I thought they were cracked but the vet say they are calysing pretty heavily and gave me the condition he has. She recommended adding fish oil supplements to his diet. I was feeding taste of the wild and he has been on orijen kibble now about 3 weeks to see if this helps. Anyone have any suggestions??

Yes loose the ecsesif protien and cut that back to 30/33% fat 20% and soak your kibbel in the same amound of hot(not boiled) water for 45 min.
at 15 months. cut back your protien to 25/27% fat arounf 17% . keep soaking your drij food.

3. salmon oil is great for coat and skin issues

If u are feeding adult food with no omega 3 and 6 fatty acids suplement it. Fish oil and flaxseed oil are good sources.

Orijen pacific formula I loaded with with omega I hoping to see a change and it is a all life stage formula. Would it be a bad thing too add more fish products, I heard too much could actually hurt a dog??

Nop the eczackt oposit will be the case!! .
As the dog is NOT drawing THICK siliva from his natual glands to wet the dry food, .meaning no thick seliva stays in the mouth!!.Dogs that chew there drij kibble ofthen keep on smaking there mouths due to the siliva and food residew!!. when the kibble has been soakt in water then thats NOT the case . Mind you do NOT use crap kibble... and have fresh water availeble all the time for your dogs. As for skin problems 80% is a amino acid problem

everyone has their own opinions, you can get good kibble and if you feed it right your fine. i feed raw but have 1 dog and i couldnt imagine the time and money it would cost to feed even 4-5 or more dogs on a raw diet and most people on the forum it seems have more than just 1 dog

13. It does sound like his paws are callousing. You WANT that to happen. You don't want soft puppy pads because they will constantly be damaged by walking on asphalt/concrete. You want the callouses because the callous is what protects the pad. Let them callous and leave them alone. It's natural.

14. Yep. I have 1 raw fed dog. I'll up that to 2 or maybe 3 raw fed dogs but I couldn't imagine feeding raw to the amounts of dogs some folks here have. I get good deals by buying in bulk and getting giveaways but it gets expensive with multiple dogs.

I know calysing is good but the problem is the calysis over grow to the extent where the calys has to be trimmed almost like a nail and starts to give the appearance of cracked pads. Vet said this has happened from walking him during the cold dry weather we have where I live

bag balm should help the feet and the fish supplements should help his coat. no need to feed a lot of protein if your dog is not a worker

I feed the higher protein because we are working on conditioning getting him ready for the summer he is 11 months now. Waiting on his pulling harness to get hear soon. He loves flirt pole and spring pole and snags the frisbee out the air no problem. Paws are concerning at this point due hand walking and bike rides.
