    Pit bulls from fighting ring getting new life in Joshua
    Dogs discovered after triple homicide in Idaho

    In early April, authorities were called to investigate a triple homicide at an eastern Idaho residence.

    Once on scene, police discovered the murder had likely been associated with a dogfighting ring and a $95,000 marijuana growing operation, according to The Associated Press.

    Sixty-four dogs, most of them pit bulls and pit bull-mixes were taken from the property. One was euthanized at the home, too ill to be nursed back to health. About a dozen other dogs also had to be put down after a temperament evaluation deemed them too aggressive, said Hannah Parpart, communications and outreach director for the Humane Society of Idaho.

    The rest are being rehabilitated for new homes. That includes two pit bulls, Asia and Toronto, who are coming to Joshua this week.

    Mended Hearts Rescue, a small rescue operation run by a couple and two volunteers, has agreed to house and train the two dogs in preparation for their new life.

    “We got to pick the ones we wanted,” said Aaron Heilbron, one of the Mended Hearts founders, adding that the two pups were not used for fighting.

    According to the AP, some of the dogs at the home were being boarded by the homicide victims. Heilbron said he believes that based on their health, Asia and Toronto had not been at the site long.

    “No one else had come forward to claim any of the dogs after the murder,” Aaron’s wife, Nichole Heilbron said.

    Mended Hearts Rescue, which began in Indiana in 2010, started the new chapter in Joshua last year when the Heilbrons moved there. The Heilbrons, who have seven of their own dogs and four foster dogs, learned about Asia and Toronto through one of their co-board members, who also worked with BADRAP, an animal welfare, rights and protection organization, particularly focused on bully breeds. BADRAP was involved with helping to rehabilitate the Michael Vick dogs and those rescued last year from Spindletop in Montgomery County, Texas, Nichole Heilbron said.

    “BADRAP sent us a list of dogs and we picked Asia and Toronto,” she said. “We’ve worked so much with pit bulls. We rescued a [Hurricane] Katrina dog, who is now the leader of our house. We call her the sheriff.”

    The couple said they hope that Katrina dog Ellie Mae can help Asia come out of her shell.

    “Asia is pretty shy, but she is very social with people,” Aaron Heilbron said. “The other dogs at the shelter have been helping her be more confident.”

    Nichole Heilbron said Toronto is about 6 months old and is still in his puppy stage. She said she isn’t sure how old Asia is, but that she is at least 2. The Heilbrons said they have dogs of all activity levels at home so they are sure the two recruits will fit in nicely as they learn house manners and about becoming a family pet.

    “They need a second chance,” Aaron Heilbron said. “The more we can show people that you can take a dog out of a miserable, horrible situation, it helps. The Michael Vick case and some of these other cases have done more for these dogs that anything anyone can say or do.” Aaron Heilbron and a Mended Hearts volunteer plan to pick up the two dogs on Thursday. The trip, which is expected to cost about $800, will be funded solely by the couple and donations.

    Ok so he didn't get caught with all that weed either then and he was runnin all them dogs in b2013! Cmon now that dude was trippin. Mt u don't know me and I didn't know that fella that got caught doin that. And I woulda went the other way if I saw him.

    Yes, I think you're an idiot, and you're lucky as your previous posts have been removed so people can't see just what a clueless arsehole you are.

    Ok you didn't know him, but you were damn quick to condemn him through trial by media. As a dogman, "if" you're a dogman, you should know damn well what the media are like when it comes to reporting on raids such as this. Unfortunately, you've just highlighted a real problem with society today, in that people just like you are too stupid to use common sense and simply opt for the lazy option of believing everything the media tells them.

    For the record, I don't condone growing/selling weed, especially when they had young children in the house. So no arguements there.

And I guess this guy wasn't one of those peddlers I hear people bashin all the time on here either huh? Anyway its jus my opinion. Didn't mean to rattle you with it. I know this, family and my dogs come first and I won't jeopordize either one. And if animal activist show up where my familys at they'll find jus a few dogs with clean bils of health. No dope either

    Well good for you. I'm going to make this loud and clear sir, Stop now. You don't know them people at all so keep your fucking assumptions to yourself. They were murdered and people knew them and would vouch for them as being good folks who took care of their dogs. So fucking what they sold weed, its a fucking plant that with in the next ten years will be legalized all through out this country, something long over due. Read the news thread and move along ....

    One other thing, stop posting on threads looking to buy a dog. If I have to delete one more post from you due to you not taking the time to obviously read the rules here I will send you packing. If you want to buy or sell a dog become a Premium Member and look for it the appropriate forum sectons.... I don't like being a prick so don't make me tell you twice....

    Ok ill respect ur wishes and stop on the topic. But how the hell u figure I'm tryin to buy dogs? I was jus wonderin where some of that joey blood was or if there even was any that anyone knew about cuz I've never seen any one run it and it sure seemslikesomeone woulda tried a little harder with it then what peds on lineshow . According to that a blue show dog was Showin Up on the bottom. Damn sure ain't tryin to buy that

    . Wasn't really tryin to buy anything I would be interested in finding out more about how whip turned out after parker got rid of him. I dig the rebel yell stuff man but I won't be buying anything soo. That's for surei won't the bitch I want bred won't be ready for a while either so chill out man. U can stop policing me now. I swear I won't break ur laws anymore buddy. Hope not any way. Not a hard thing to do. K
