I think it's safe. Build up to longer times. Walk first to get her warm. Rub her muscles and check her pads after. Keep a good eye out for any stiffness or awkward movements.

12 month..... no problem at all! I don´t think you are training for Iron Man or do you?
To ensure that you can keep up your pace without interruptions make sure she emptied out.

As for hip dysplasia that´s a genetic disease and there´s nothing you can do to avoid trouble. Quite the opposite if your dog has bad hips it is important to build up musculature and therefore swimming and constant workout like jogging or moderate pace on a mill is pretty good for them!

Best is to start her out slow. Resting every other day. Just like a person starting to jog. Do 10 seconds jogging/ 60 seconds walking. Gradually decrease intervals. The rest days are crucial

  9. Wow you real asking if it safe to jog a yearling!!! I try to start jogging my pups around 6 to 8 months. But introduce them to walks around 4 months

Looks like I've been way to cautious then eh?! Oh well I'll start her every other day before work, I'll just keep it at 20-30 mins for a bit then ramp it up, she completed the run the other day without panting once so she'l be more than ok with this, cheers for the replys

You aren't being too cautious. You're doing the right thing and asking. Pay close attention to how your dog acts to the increased work.
