I thought War Dog was off of Sonny Boy....If so Sonny Boy is Sixbits/Back Jett. Black Jett is a sister to Maverick II and a grand daughter of Nigger Toby. Now... Granted it's back there a lil bit. But these were good dogs and fantastic producers. I know that Brumley's Oreo was a daughter of Maverick II and CT's Little Missy. She produced well bred to Sixbits so that combination worked. But there was Toby behind it.

Congratulations Mister I'm sure he's a great dog.... If I sounded like I was saying it was impossible to have a good dog down from Sixbits I didn't mean to. To each his own.

No offence was taken at all. You are correct about the black jet breedings. I guess not a lick was an incorect statement. I however never considered him a toby nor maveric cross as mutch as a tightly family. bred bred dog built around Sixbits himself or more spacificly War Dog considering War dog was bred to his daughter to preserve and produce Wardog traits. I also have owned a Couple Toby hounds and in my Experiance thay bring a whole completely different set of traits to the table. The two familys tend to complamen one another and produce exalent all around dogs. However to knock or to say that ether line that produce this blend don't carry value as working animals or breeding stock or that there arnt examples of good folks keeping the blood tight and right on both sides would be incorect. As a whole the line was peddled but there are good sixbits dogs out there performing and produceing in the right hands. I did not take offence to you're post at all more being loud and proud about a dog and a family of dogs I'm fond of.

He is correct about them getting better with age and about haveing to have proper patients with them. Most who run them know this to be true.

I heard years back that there was a brother of Sixbits here in the south... but I never knew for sure one way or another. I don't think there's any doubt that Sixbits left his mark. And I wouldn't dispute his contribution to the breed, or a particular breeding.

I like the structure of most Sixbits dogs and they sure as hell can be counted on to bring some of the stuff that JD bred for. If they are right in the head they are some durable dogs that have the potential to make any hunter proud.

Those are some nice looking hounds Young Flea... Especially that Sookie bitch.

I wonder how many are still alive off sixbits? I should have paid the money for that dog and had my friends vet pull straws for me. It's expensive to do that though but it would have been worth it.
