New APBT owner here. Quick Question

    I bought my first APBT. He was 8 weeks when I got him. He is now 24 weeks. People ask me what he is and I tell them PitBull. I'm kind of caught in between what he really is. Can you help?

    His UKC papers say:

    Pupp's UKC No. A633 xxx

    Birthdate: 5/14/2013

    Breed: American Pit Bull Terrier

    Sire: Malo's Blue Minion P503xxx

    Dam: UWP 'PR' Malo's Deja Blue Shark A214xxx

    What is he? What do I tell people he is?

    The pedigree says the breed is an American Pit Bull Terrier. Unless you think the papers are hung, that's probably what it is.

    I just really want to know what to call him. Pitt Bull, Blue Bully, American Bully, etc.

    Call him whatever you want, just be happy with your dog and take good care of him. He doesn't care what you call him, I've called a few of mine dumbass before and they love me the same. lol good luck

    For the record......IMO he definitely isn't 100% apbt like his "papers" say but for anybody to act like they can say exactly what all the dog might have in him by looking at a pic.....is just taking a shot in the dark (could have amstaff,bully or all of em). Just take good care of him, doesn't matter what he is, you bought/adopted him.

    Thankx to you all who have responded. I love this MFer so much! Me and wife and kids (older 8-16) just adore him. We are spoiling him. It's our first dog in the family. Now, as I'm filling out the Application for Permanent Registration, it asked that dogs name have 2 words or more? So if his name is Maximus, what or how should I name him? By my last name or some crazy name like I see everyone else do?

    name him after you or your kennel and add maxximus, or add a word to maximus. he is definitely an am bully . Are all American bullies registered as APBTs or can they register as a breed yet ?

    I would definitely say that is a Pit Bull.. However that name is quite stereotyped these days. Just call it an American Terrier :)

    It may be what the public calls a "pitbull" but it's not a american pitbull terrier. I think we all agree on that. The only mystery is what all is in it?? Amstaff, Bully?? We don't know, nobody does. The op is happy with his family dog and that's all that really matters at this point.
