I am from Belize and I wanted to buy cow hide for spring pole, and flirt pole; but sadly importing it is not allowed. Here no one sells it, since they just throw the hide away after killing the cow. I managed to get hide from a friend who just killed one, but I don't know how to prepare it to be usable for spring pole and flirt pole. All suggestions are welcomed.

Basically just salt it and let it dry out in the sun for a couple days or more depending on the thickness of the hide it could take a week or longer.

You could also boil it to take off the hairs. I prefer mine with the hair on it LOL.

Once that is done you can also soak it in some water with some bleach in it for a few hours. Let it dry again and its ready.

I also prefer boar hides as they are tougher and stronger.

I would not soak it in bleach if you gonna give it to the dog just do it the natural way.
