I've never been able to feed RAW cheaper. I do it in cycles every few months to try and find a way too but it never ends up being cheaper. If you have a good meat supplier then it's definitely possible. I'm not that lucky though. Best times for me to feed raw is during the hunting season. Other than that it's just too expensive and time consuming for me to do it as a main diet. If you have the resources then it can definitely be cheaper and is certianly a much better way to feed than processed food. Someday I'm gonna find that meat connect....

I’m sure most everyone knows, but I’ll include it in this thread anyhow, just in case someone reading is new to raw feeding and has concerns about bone safety (as I once did).

it’’s safe to feed raw chicken bones, but not cooked ones. Cooking alters the bones’ structure, as they harden, can splinter and harm your pup. Raw chicken bones on the other hand digest easily, are nutritious and good for teeth and gums. Can’t go wrong with raw chicken necks if there is any reservation about the thicker bones. As older pups, mine got whole frozen turkey necks. Great for teething and developing jaws.

I sometimes remind myself commercial dog food has been around for maybe 80 years or so. Dogs have been domesticated what, 15-20K years? What were they fed back in the day?

Even with modern veterinary medicine, I don’t think dogs are living any longer because of bagged processed food. Maybe the opposite. However, I do think there has been an effort over the past several years to improve the quality of bagged feed, such as removing the corn/grains and preservatives.

I either feed a puppy formula until 12 months or just an all life stages food. Mine eat Acana.
