I still think that was what was wrong with my pups. I am just so glad I went on to the vet with them.

Who all here feeds Diamond, and is there a medication for the dogs that are sick with the infection?

Big River Kennels- can you give me the website for Black Gold? I tried a search and kept getting something totally differant :(
    Thanks!

I fed my 4 adult dogs, one of them nursing 13 puppies, the diamond food. When i went to get more food i found out about the recall. The bag i had just finished feeding was on the recall list. So far my dogs are doing good. Except a few of the pups are acting funny.

Is it possible for the toxin to not affect the momma but affect the babies?

Yes it is possible for the toxin to affect pups and not adult dogs. I have lost three dogs to diamond and my vet is saying that it will effect each dog differently but is especially hard on pups. Every one i lost was under 6 months. She says that the damage it does to the liver can be overcome, but it is hard for pups because obvoiusly they aren't fully developed. She also told me that any of my dogs could become sick at anytime in the next 60 days as it would take that long for all of the aflotoxin to pass through. Good luck.......

Sadly this is a fairly common problem with the mass produced pet food makers. About 6 years ago Solid Gold had an aflatoxin problem. About a year later Natura Company…they make Innova, Ca Natural, and Healthwise also had an aflatoxin and had to recall a lot of food because of it.

I feed my boy Diamond as well, when I saw the recall i almost shite myself. I will never use diamond again. Im going back to the Black Gold. It's a longer drive for me but a longer life for Romeo.
