I was just looking at my girlfriends pup, and I noticed it has dewclaws on its back legs. Is this normal?

talk with your vet ... If the dog is a show dog, yes.. but usually they cut them off within days of whelping
other than that, they shouldnt harm anything

all my dogs are very inbred and they don't have dew claws...read up about it.pit bulls if pure do NOT have dew clews..wayne just because your dog is line bred is not the reason he has a dew claw ,hahahaha

Dogs dont think of it as "nasty" and "inbreeding" in dogs is much diffrent from "inbreeding" in humans. With the proper culling program inbreeding is a succesful tool in a breeding program. However, if you dont cull properly or breed them too tight, genetic defects will surface from the line.

i honestly think a lot of people here should read up about how genetics work before they go making fools of themselfs..

Wait.. Didnt you just say if a pit bull is pure it wont have dew claws?? Rear dew claws will happen.. its rare but it does happen even in pure pit bulls. What genetic material are you reading?

It happens more often however in the Staffordshire Bull terrier as their standards says to remove rear dewclaws if present..

So Yall Are Saying If You Have A Pure Pit It Wont Have Dew Claw At All Even On Its Front Legs.
