Well a lot of Newbies come here and most of the time their question is either; when is my female going to have pups or who has the best and biggest blues.
I recently went to an AADR show in Phoenix, the judge made a comment directed towards the big blue and red nose owners. He bascially said he doesn't like big, fat dogs. Funny too because almost every bluff there had a spiked collar, spike harness and chain around the neck.
I thought the purpose of the site was to educate people about game dogs, but most of the bluff owners don't get it.

  4. Yeah I live right outside of PHX in a town called Mesa.....It's like one big cat litter box

  5. I could tell by the cement walls in your back yard...pure Phoenix baby! I was born and raised in Phx. We lived in a trailer on the outskirt of the city on Black Canyon Highway. Going north to Flaggstaff, it was the last sign of civilization for a long time. 40 minutes away, on the highway was the Federal Prison. Then we moved over to N. 33rd ave (peoria) for a few years. I just went back thru Phx a couple of years ago, and the Prison was only about 5-10 drive from the outskirt of the city...that's how much the city's grown outwards. My folks still live in Phx, as well as 85% of my extended family. I hope to get back there some time....but housing prices seem too ridiculous for me right now.

  6. I lived out here from 2000 to 2002 then my company moved me to Texas. I moved back here last year and it is crazy how much it has grown. As for the price of homes they are out of control I don't even want to say how much I bought my home for lol. I like it out here becuase it never rains so I don't have muddy dogs lol.

I had explained before that it is not my fault that my dog may have been preggers. What am I supposed to do? Skip school so that I can make sure my mom doesn't leave her outside when she is in heat? I told her everyday that she was in heat for my mom to not leave her outside. What more could I have done?

About the blue...I don't want a show dog. I'm not into the showing and competition thing. I don't see anything wrong with being picky about what color, etc. my desired dog is. If it was someone looking for a lab it wouldn't such a big deal. But w/e that doesn't really bother me. IMO none of you are the ones caring for my dog, etc. and when I get another dog, none of you will be caring for that one either so, since I am, I think it should be ok for me to be picky.

About the shelter. My mom won't let me adopt a pit bull from a shelter anyway. I talked to her about it not too long ago. Before I even got to say anything about it, she said no. She said that I can buy a puppy or adopt a puppy (so long as it's 6 months or younger). But I can't adopt a pit....So on that topic, it doesn't matter what I think or feel...Right?

Individuals need to be more compassionate when posting a response if they are truly trying to educate someone about the breed. No one will listen if the remarks or advise comes off negative. There is too much bashing on this forum and not enough being done to preserve the apbt or to educate others about the breed. There is a handful of people who try to post helpful articles and advise but for the most part it seems people prey on new members. We need to all be more understanding if we are to preserve the apbt.

If you are not showing or breeding - there is no reason why you couldn't get a dog from the shelter. There are some darn good dogs in the shelter and I've come across quite a few that appear to be pure bred.

If she won't consider a shelter dog, what about a rescue dog? I'm sure there are members on this board that are in your area that can point you to a reputable rescue. I know that most rescues get their dogs from shelters, but GOOD rescues also take the time to temperment test and vet their dogs.

Better yet, show your mother my picture gallery and tell her that my black pitbull is a shelter dog - now training to be a service dog. If you need more info or would like some links to share with your mom, PM me and I'll get them to you.
