One of my dogs, Diesel (the white one in in my sig), was a rescue, so he is not papered. He is a pit/great dane mix. My female, Betty (the one smiling in my sig), is registered with APBR. She came from a backyard breeder. And my newest female, Gwen, is not registered, but she comes from UKC and ADBA backgrounds. I don't feel the need to register her, she's not going to be a show dog. I am most likely going to start her in Therapy work when she gets older, and possibly SAR. I have high hopes for this girl. :)

I guess it all depends what you want to do with your dog. If you would like to be involved in positive things for the breed, such as shows, weight pulls, etc, then you have to be registered....well you don't have to, because there are plenty of fun shows. But if you would like to get points then you have to register. It's really all up to you...just because you want your dog registered doesn't mean you want to breed. Hell, anyone could get a pup with no papers and put papers on it, either hang them or with certain registries that only need a couple pics as proof, like the ckc.
