Yet another example of how friendly pit bulls really are...a potential stranger just stole them! I feel bad for the real owners...I'd be heart broken....but what were the dogs doing at the shelter in the first place?

Why the heck does a shelter have a "night dropbox"? Does this mean if you dont have time in the day you just drive up and put your pooches in the dropbox like some mail? I hope they find those dogs and the guys who took them.

my question is how did the dogs end up at the pound in the first place?

Authorities say the 9th. The tape shows 10th. Were they in the "drop box" for a whole day and night? SOMETHINGS WRONG HERE.

  7. Same thing i was wondering, and who would leave two pit bulls alone in one? What if a fight broke out?

The legal owner of the dogs was located and he wants his dogs returned.

my question is why were the dogs left in a drop box? is a drop box where you leave unwanted animals?

I have a hard time viewing videos with dial-up, but if its anything like the "drop box" they used to have at one of the branches of our local HS in St. Louis, its a room with crates and bowls of water. Probably not the smartest idea, but it can be a good thing. We found a dog running around a 4-lane road at like 3 in the morning one time and didn't know what to do with him. Thanks to the "drop box," the dog got reunited with his owner, who hopefully set him up with better containment.

yup,,don't know about anywhere else,,in Florida,,u can drop your dog off at these "overnight" boxes,,when I was there,,they were set up in Grocery store parking lots and any where else they could put them,,its really quit sad,,I am going to hope the person that took them will give them a better home then the idiot that drove them there in the first place.

Sounds like it could be an inside job. I live in north Florida and have heard that you should not just leave your pit bull in the back yard because the animal control people will take them and say they were at large. They then sell them and make up a disappearance story. It's your word against the dog police and who's word are they going to take?

I'm not trying to be an ass, but for those who are really looking down on the "drop box" things, do you really think that the lack of one would stop someone from just tying their dog to the door? Or putting a box of puppies or kittens out there? At least if they're going to dump their dog -- or if, like us, they found a dog running somewhere -- its in a safe, probably climate-controlled room.

Huh. I've never heard about drop boxes. Is there no one to oversee the dogs, though? That would worry me - what if there's multiple dogs and a fight breaks out?

I don't think I would leave a dog if another one was already there. This was probably a domestic dispute or something.

There are crates. You put one dog in one crate. :) At least that's the way it was at our local HS. Crates with newspapers and clean water.

My 2 cents: I strongly believe that the dogs' owner was the one who dumped them in the overnight dropbox at the pound. It was probably someone who saw him do it or even knew him that then stole the dogs. But now that the case is in the spotlight, the owner doesn't want to come across as a jackass abandoning his dogs so now he's trying to cover his ass & act like a loving pet owner to make himself be the victim here. I can promise you that if the dogs were originally taken from him, the original theives wouldn't go dump the dogs nicely at the shelter overnight once they were through with them.

I agree with Mia. I think it was either him or the other half. Hell, the other half might be the one that got them. Somethings wrong!

hm....what do you guys think......what if my dog was going to get stolen and instead of being friendly he attacks the thief would that be bad or good foro the breed?
