I used the 10' PVC and synthetic rope with some funky cowhide. I tried the pole with my first bulldogs -- 4 month old VBK pups -- and was astonished that pups that young and that small bent the pole nearly double. I thought the pole would snap. :-O

lol yeah sometimes they look like a fishing pole it’s all about the diameter plus if u leave the pole outside the plastic get hot and more bendable I had to goto Home Depot. And try to pole vault with em the damn employees were looking at me crazy
But sometimes they do break no way around it but luckily their cheap and easy to get also the longer it is the more bend it will have cut it down to 6 feet and the pole should bend less

I ended up doing precisely that, slicing a few feet off the PVC. My pups were fanatical about the pole. Nowadays I would use a shorter pole for young pups and work up to a longer one as they grow so as not to risk breaking the younger pups' tusks.

My big male (about 52 pounds) froths at the mouth and cackles a bit when I work him on the flirt pole.He is a bit overweight but he is just about 14 months old and I just transitioned him to adult feed.I let my pups pretty much eat all they want until around this age.Now I'm giving him the recommended amount of feed for his size and working him a bit harder.Hand walking/flirt pole/jolly ball work/tug-o-war.By 16 months he should be in pretty decent shape for a house dog.

He is breathing better already, we play almost every day.He really enjoys the flirt pole and playing tug of war with this three ringed dog toy designed by Nerf.It makes me break out a good sweat too.

SBCK. Looks like you two are having a good time working out, and bonding as a team. You can even incorporate obedience/control into your flirt and tug sessions, which will pay dividends as he matures. I started using coax cable to fasten the toy to the pvc, since my dogs will cut through paracord or whatever string.

I’m on instagram @ k9_beowulf if interested. I should have some short videos of flirt as well some other training and exercise routines.

I bought a bundle of cheap rope to connect the hide to the pvc pipe. Everytime they cut the rope (which isn't hard for them to do) I just replace it. I have done so quite a few times already, once they get that hide they will run off,do their prideful strut and hold on to the prize.I have to wrestle it out of their mouths or try to distract them and steal it back.I do not have an instagram account,I suppose I should create one and seek your videos out.
