Bitches in heat outdoors

I don't have any intact females at the time so it is not an immediate concern of mine but in the future, I may, so I thought I might ask.

How do you safely contain a bitch in heat outdoors? I have heard people say it's as simple as kenneling, but I have also heard that dogs can tie up through a fence. Is that just a stupid myth or is it something to be believed? It seems pretty damn unlikely to me, but I'm not a pro (our previous females were kept indoors during their heat).

Never heard that one before. Aint saying its not possible with certain types of fence and willing/determined dogs but it seems unlikely through a chainlink fence or welded wire like most kennels are made of. I did have a male chew through a heavy gauge chainlink fence to get to a female. I had left for about 45 mins and came home to two stuck dogs. Yeah all males are on chains now.

 

Build an above ground pen. And lock her ass in.

i have had a mutt get to my bitch thru a kennel fence before when i was in high school, and i've seen them tie thru a crate as well.

 

That seems like a good plan.
