Odd eyed bulldogs (heterochromia)

I am referring to dogs with one blue eye and one darker colored eye (orange, brown, amber etc). In cats it is called odd eyes, in humans it is called heterochromia. I have seen dozens of odd-eyed bulldogs, Huskies and Border Collies. In APBTs and ASTs, is this a mutation that turns up now and then/a well-hidden recessive gene? Are there certain lines of bulldogs that occasionally throw odd-eyed pups?
