For the record though... "Confident owners make confident dogs" is still the dumbest shit you could say pertaining to this subject

NOT anywhere in my writings did I mention anything about leaving a child alone, or anything ells you're trying to argue over... Must of hit a nerve? With my opinoin??? This is why I never post on line any longer. Common sense just isn't very common!

What it all comes down to is each INDIVIDUAL dog as no two dogs are exactly alike and even then its just common sense to never leave ANY dog unattended with children no matter what type of breed of dog it is. There is even stories of Chihuahuas killing a new born baby when the owners thought there chihuahua would never hurt a fly but one thing you have to remember is when it all comes down to it dogs are STILL ANIMALS.

Nothing to argue about, we all can learn from eachothers experiences, not knowing the situation I would hope the dog would be intune with you and your children enough to know friend from foe... Your son got knocked over and I presume was upset, so your bulldog got protective and attacked the kid and his dad? I believe anydog raised and trusted with the children should understand that the kids emotions and defferiate attacking humans from dog which they are bred for... I wonder a couple things, how was the dog bred? and if he had any aggression issues with strangers?was he socialized or kept away from humans and taught to dirrect his agrresion via gaurd work?
I ask these questions as an attempt to further understand why a family dog would attack a child, I am sorry this hapened to you and am glad in twenty years of raisng plenty of dogs around children that I never had to deal with that...

You said it best, the gamblers put a kink in things,lmao...
Mr.L.Colby stayed with some friends while in town judging some adba shows and my friend noted that Mr.Colby said his father John Colby, the most significant breeder of all times culled any human aggression from his BREEDING LINE and CULLING wasnt necessarly KILLING them but placing them in the right hands...
IE... Tudor types who were gamblers before bredders and could care less about human aggression and often bred these type because of thier destuctive styles, often they wernt game or never had a chance to show it...
WHY DID THE COLBY DOGS THAT WERE BRED FOR GAMENESS AND CULLED FROM HUMAN AGGRESSION END UP SOOOooo... WHITE???
WHY ARE THE TYPE THAT WERE SOLD TO TUDOR AND WERE BRED FOR DESTRUCTIVENESS A MAJORITY BLACK???
I push my Black dog theory of the ol Henry throwbacks to the brittish/spanish dogs of war that were big athletic dark dogs of destruction...
While the White Colby theory is a combination of alot of theories, the black dogs were culled for being wrecklooses...
Perhaps thru this TYPE of culling that the Colby dogs were throwbacks to the smaller white terrier that were known for being handeled by humans in any type of work and were great family pets that were utiled for a multitude of things...
Or linebreeding a family with out any outcrosses weaken the genes and the more white they get the more close they are to being albino...
The Famous actor/raper Ice Cubes cousin was using Cubes name and rep to sell some inbred white pieces of junk that were borderline albino, only lasted a couple of generations...
Food for thought if anybody is hungry for this type of talk, shoot your opinons back...
Jacob and/or mr tazz, your back and forth is ruining the thread, stay on topic...
    Thanks...Elias...

i posted that story as an example of what could happen with no warning with dogs-- any breed of them. my kids grew up with him= 7 boys and 1 girl . the dog lived to be 16 years old. he was about 5 when this happened. and yea it was a shocker. but it taught me a lesson that i think others could benefit from. what does it matter what bloodline anyway- could happen with any line. but i'll tell you just to mess with you and see how good you are lol- i see you do a lot of posting about dogs.tr cain was down off my mentors Maverick 5x-- my mentor was cecil ponds. he died last year so it don't bother me saying his name on here maverick was off rusty from Arizona-- enough hints hahahaha. have you ever heard of tham dogs ??? lol. all in fun -- dan

There you go. Dynomite's son. IMO, this is how a good gamebred bulldog should be like with kids (obviously with supervision, as with all breeds).

I beg to differ.... Sai said it best. They are individual's. I've raised 2 kids around gamedogs their entire short little lives. One is 17 the other is 10. Never have I had a bad incident happen. No animal should be left alone with children nore should kids be roaming chain spots unattended. Why would I treat them like wild animals, they aren't, they are domesticated dogs Not wolves.

Oh yeah, and besides my outside dogs I have 4 in my home...... Many extremely well known and respected dogman have kept a dog in there home as well. They thrive in most any environment you put them in.... I like them better outside but with good guidance they do great in the home. I think people have a pretty skewed view point in these dogs. They are dogs period. A dog is a dog is a dog regardless of breed... The dogs we are talking about though not only are extremely intelligent animals but score higher in temperament testing than most other breeds do.
To say they shouldn't be in the home and they should be treated like wild animals does no great service to one's animals.......

I have kids coming from every direction in and out my house daily. My daughter is a social butterfly. My only concern ever is that while they are coming and going one slips by them and someone is walking a dog. Never had it happen because I stay on point with entry and exit here as does my daughter. It's really more about What are you capable of? Some folks just have dogs for one specific reason only while others use them for a vast array of jobs. Some even raise a dog simply for companionship. It's really not unheard of. Lol. I'm not saying I agree or disagree with ones own personal methods but just wanted to point out it has been done before by many people thought out the breeds history. Without incident ....

A dog will only go as far as its owner is willing to take it.....
