Have the best dogs you've ever owned been males or females?

I like a good bitch but my top 3 best have all been males. Just worked out that way.

That's a tough question..I love a good producing female that passes her quality traits consistant. Its kinda like the Golden Goose.it takes good males to though.

Yeah it's not a hypothetical as in which do you prefer. Just a discussion on in your experience which have been your best/have you had the most luck with.

  4. I've had 2 really good males and 2 females. It's been half-half for me, not because of preference but it just happened to be like that. The 2 males loved to play fetch, they were calm, loyal and followed me like shadows...really well behaved. The females both always made me laugh, more independent but they were comical and cute, so sweet, would of made great mothers. I've only had 2 dogs that were kind of timid and insecure but they were handled wrong from previous owners. They turned out to be great dogs in the end with some work

  5. I've always been parcel to gyps, always kept my "dudes" but a gyp always becomes my favorite know matter what I do.....

No matter what with all the ups and downs life deals you, I have ALWAYS managed to keep A pair of my best gyps! Place the hunters in capable hands of friends and family! But A couple good gyps can have you back in the race and the hardest to come by!

Naus the guy I learned a lot from is 65 yrs old now and been around Bulldogs and roosters all his life.I don't care how well he likes or how good he thinks your dogs are ,he won't take a male from anyone. He will snatch up on a female in a New York minute though lol.Thats the truth ,he likes females best and he only keeps his own males that he has bred himself.

I can see his reasoning. Id like to hear who taught him and why. I like talkin to older folks about their youth and how they learned what they learned. It feels like they take me back in time wit em! Everything be in technicolor tho lol

Cnote I don't know if this was a developed trait or he just developed this as a preference.I am pretty sure itw just a deveoped preference, as he just prefers females..He even breeds early in a heat to get more females.it always works for him to.

Even split for me. I had a male out of Kasai/Miss Two Eyes. I have never seen a dog that absolutely loved competition like he did. To the point, he looked disappointed if another one got to come off the chain. As silly as it sounded it looked like his facial expression changed, damn near pouting it was not his turn again. A little biased too as I have kicked myself for years for selling him.

    Male.

I have had some of both that have just got into my heart. A great female with all the right traits is as good as gold. Yet a few male's have gone above and beyond the call of duty. It's a even split for me also at the end of the day.

    Good posts!!!

I like bitches and bond better with them and get more out in return,,,
males seem to act like asshole friends...

I like having a couple good gyps also as you can breed them to any stud and keep more than if you had the stud and did a puppy deal,,, I guess that would be if the litter clicked...

Having a sought out stud would be nice also as you can pick and choose the brood matron to keep pups off
and have alot more assortment of options...

I rather have a bitch that throws a good percentage over a stud that has a low percentage offspring...

if your not keeping a pair then your whole family is lost if you had family bred dogs . crazy and stupid to me . i've watched this happen quite a bit .

In my experiences bitches bond with males more
and male dogs seem to go for my girl and I have old males to my mother...

Besides mine,,,I noticed this in alot of other situations with the dog and human attracting to the opposite sexes,,,
as dumb as it sounds Im sure it has something to do with nature...
