lol, that would have been humorous had it not been fake. Bark collars don't work in such a fashion. They will NOT go off on one bark & the beep you heard in the vid was the warning chime. The warning chime goes off BEFORE the shock is initiated. Yet he reacted as being shocked when the chime went off. That alone gives away the fact the collar was NOT shocking that boy.

I was thinkin the same thing. I use a bark collar on my dogs and they have to bark for a certain amount of time ( i think 1 min )before they get a warning beep and then if they continue for so long after the beep (I think 30 sec) THEN they get a shock. It doesnt shock the dog if it barks one time.

  9. Come on guys, we all know it was a joke, but it was still funny. I mean you know there was never even a battery in that thing, it was just funny!!

I guess I need to show my husband...he will like it too, maybe!

it was funny but you know dumb people will take it too far. A good bark collar can be a wonderful tool, but uneducated people think they are "cruel". They will see that crap and keep spewing thier mis information as truth.

I completely agree, regardless of whether the video is fake or not.
I also think a bark collar is cruel, but does that make me uneducated? A bark collar is only a "wonderful tool" to suit the needs of you or others in their environment, it has absolutely no benefit for the dog its self. How can you label someone "uneducated" for their opinion of such devices?

Not everyone is as fortunate as you that thier dogs can bark non stop if they feel like it. A bark collar is not cruel. I have been shocked by one as well as a remote shock collar and it doesnt hurt. It startles you more than anything. I have used both collars for training and know others who do as well, including our local PD trainer. So yes to say it is cruel is an uneducated statement.

No, not everyone is, and I never said that I disagreed with it. For the statement about "a bark collar is not cruel," that is only your perception of it. And for you to compare the difference between the feeling you feel versus a dog holds as much or less water than others using the same excuse for different reasons. Your experience with any type of electric pet device does not and will not change the opinions of others on the same object. And how can the act of saying that such a device is cruel deem them uneducated about the subject? That doesn't make a whole lot of sense, especially knowing what electricity can do to a dog, regardless of whether it is enough to do any damage or not.

I personally don't use them, but I damn near fell off my chair watching this! :D

I'm with you"T", that was really funny!

That was pretty damn funny. Fortunately for me, I've never had a dog that barked uncontrollably. I wouldn't really want to teach my dog NOT to bark because I like alert barking, and my dogs are a little thick in the head...

I'm pretty sure that they can get painful... especially the invisible fence collars with a stubborn dog. What a way to create some serious anxiety in an animal! I understand how some places, you NEED to keep your animals pretty quite because you could lose them, but if I HAD to do this, I would try the spray collars, which spray the mist to starttle the dog... if that would even work.[IMG]

  18. You know, until you said that, I never really thought about it. I guess you are right...damn people, I tell ya, can't do anything in this world!

We live in some what of a neighborhood and ours like to go off all night long (a couple of them) I personaly did not like bark collars as I too thought they were cruel. BUT, we ended up buying one (we had no choice, we don't like drawing attention to our "PIT BULLS" as most people get freaked out and start hollaring) and I tell you what, I really like them. They are a very good "trainer" we don't have a problem with our dogs at night anymore, and they still bark when need be to alert us of trespassers or anything that shouldn't be in our yard. I like them now.
