Do vets report you?

So I have two puppies I've had for a couple months. I got a bill in the mail to register my dog with the county I live in. They knew the breed of my dog and it's name. Not the name that is registered with the AKC or ADBA but the name I call her. My vet is the only person who would have that information. Are vets required to report all new dogs they treat to the county cause this really pissed me off.

here in England someone i know took their sick apbt ( around the time of the ban) to the vet and along with treating her , he spayed her without his permission. which kind of sucks, i don"t think he was reported though...

My guess is would be that it is locally mandated at the state or county level. So, yes the vet may have been required to report your pups to the county, so the county can get their money for licenses. Times are hard everywhere right now, and counties are hurting for money too.
I registered all my dogs a "mixed breed" with the vet. Years ago, the vet wouldnt even recognize an American Pit Bill Terrier as a specific breed anyway. Dont forget your Rabies vaccinations while you are getting everything in order. Most counties require rabies vaccinations before they sell you a license anyway. So, the vet and the county make out with money in the end.

This makes sense. Probably what happened. I got the rabies vaccine and I'm gonna have to pay $100 for each dog because I'm not gonna spay or neuter any time soon. It's not so much the money that angers me but with BSL bullshit going on in California, it kinda worries me. San Francisco already has a ban and I hope it doesn't spread to the rest of Cali.

In the UK Vet`s have a "duty" to report Dog they Suspect of being a banned breed. So having "papers" showing your dog Mix Breeding would be a good investment to try to dispell any Questions a Vet may have. IMO a Vet should be last resort and only to be used in a real emercency.

In my experience vets are required to report the Rabies tag info to the county said tag was given in. The county will then contact you with a request to register. This holds true both in Clark county va and both Pinellas and Hillsborough FL. However when I got one of my dogs vacced in hillsborough county the vet reported it to Hillsborough county which was not my county of residence. Therefore my county of residence was not notified of that particular dog. I use the traveling vets that routinely come to petco. hope this helps

Yes vets will report you for any reason they deem appropriate. I was reported to animal control by my faggot ass vet when one of my bitches needed a c-section earlier this year. No real reason other than to be a prick. I live in pa though so laws could be different here.

the best thing you can do to get your answer is to ask the vet that you went to if they are required by law to report your breed into the city/county. not that anyone was off, but it would be the simplest solution instead of beating around the bush. if they say no then you know it might have been a neighbor. hope your careful w/the dog if thats the case because they will be looking out the window on you every time you come out w/ the dog.

Yes vets are required by state laws to report a vaccinated dog to the county or city. The only way around it is by using a rabies clinic, they pop up every now and then to provide rabies vaccs to dogs whose owners don't have enough money to take the dog to the vet. We have a few every year. If they do not send in records of rabies vaccs to the county/city then they could get in some shit, possibly fined or lose their license. I only know this because I looked up all animal laws when I used to move from place to place and make sure that I wouldn't attract unwanted attention and have the ac up my ass.

Heres another side note, when you sell an animal, or lose it to old age etc., be sure to notify your vet that you no longer own that dog (if it had been seen by the vet.) If not, when the vet sends you that friendly reminder for Rabies vaccs. and you dont show up with said dog, they will not report it to the county or state.

I live in Sacramento, Cali. The vet has not reported anything to the county so it just depends on where in Cali.

It all depends on each individual vet. The cool vets are getting rare now days because the city/state puts pressure on them by making dumb ass laws that require the vets to turn you in just so they can make MONEY off of it as majority of people do not even register there dogs with the state.

The down side is it turns people away from the vets for getting treatment for there animals and with the economy as bad as it is right now I dont see how most vets can afford to lose there customers.

Here's a fictional story, A popular vet known for cosmetic surgeries like ear cropping, tail docking , dew claw removal etc... had alot of customers and was considered a good vet that alot of people liked till one day the state pressured em into, making him give names, in which the vet thought it was against Dr./paitient confidentiality but finally the vet gave in and word got out about the Vet and he lost 90% of all his clients with a tarnished reputation and he filed for bankruptcy LMAO.

  16. Man I dread the day my vet finally retires. Couldn't ask for a better person in every way possible. Has always been there for me, day, night, weekends, whatever and never charged me an arm and leg for anything. Vets like him are a thing of the past anymore. :(

now back to the question at hand if you give your vet reasons to call AC on you they will as far as if they are required to tell AC about you when you bring in your animals it depends on where you are at if i was you and i felt some kinda way about it i would call em and ask em what their procedures are on the subject
