Here is an artical I ran across.Its a follow up to Barny Fifes first artical on zebo dogs witch in my opinion turned alot of folks off from giveing the blood a chance.

Update On Zebo Dogs. By Barney Fife


A number of years ago I wrote an article explaining what attracted me to the line of bulldogs and what were the strengths and weakness of ZEBO bred dogs. The attraction is the freakish biting power and the major fault is the lack of endurance and gameness, which I believe they are related.

So how is this strain doing? Some of it is still first rate and alot is garbage. Those fanciers that have tested and matched their dogs have ended up with what you would expect from Zebo dogs. That is something that comes rocketing across the pit and bites bullet holes in the front end. These Zebo dogs from match stock still provide the adrenaline obtained from watching a destroyer in action. In addition, the gameness has vastly improved from ten years ago.

The other part of the story is not as uplifting. By breeding dogs just for pedigree, the untested stock is pitiful. History has repeatedly shown what happens when a strain is inbred and linebred without being tested and matching brood stock. Remember those inbred Eli jr dogs and Nigger dogs with those wonderful pedigrees ten years ago? Well the same has happened to Zebo dogs, so yoy end with a dog with no ability, no endurance, and no gameness. If a Zebo dog can't bite you are in deep do-do, because these dogs are not noted from coming off the bottom and winning on gameness. To further screw things up, some pedigrees have been changed, substituting not superior match dogs but any piece of junk available. I've seen so called inbred Zebo dogs which could not have been fifty percent of that strain. These dogs come out black or red if pure bred.

But who cares if they are 90% pure anything if they can't whip a duck? They might as well be another breed.

I found it impossible to keep the line pure and still get match dogs. other bloodlines that worked well for me with Zebo/Vindicator dogs were their close cousin Grand Champion Molly Bee an eight time winner, as well as Bullyson and Pool Hall Red. Super Gnat used Stepp's Grand Champion Angus and Champion Charlie (Champion Jeep's brother) with success. Tarheel Matt has crossed this blood with Cowboy-Chivo blood and he probably has the best collection of Zebo match dogs anywhere today. Some of Dave Adam's crosses are still around and can fight like hell if bred from match stock.

So the update is that there are still some good Zebo match dogs out there... Just be careful about how they are bred and who bred them.

I personaly never seen the update....There are alot of folks who have no experiance with the line, shitting all over it. Only because thay read the first artical and took from it what thay wanted.

 

dont seem like that line can stand on its own lots of crosses carrying it now ...

 

I know for a fact there are heavy zebo dogs holding there own out there. Are thay crossed up..Yes...mostly eli/zebo crosses but thay carry a heavy amount of zebo blood all the same ...well considering zebo has ben dead for quite some time. I think this second artical is a fair representation of the Blood. Alot more so than the first.

 

So the update is that there are still some good Zebo match dogs out there... Just be careful about how they are bred and who bred them.

Im not a fan of the Lonzo stuff at all. The Zebo type stock I know to be good dogs are Toby/ herman stock and the old Adams and Berry blood from Oh,Mi area. Zebo/kingfish/eli jr type stuff. everyone has there personal favorites. some like Benthere probobly base there opinion on what thay have seen personaly.....Most however have no clue what thay are talking about and have no experiance with it what so ever. Most have read the first artical from fife and from then on go around net doggin shitting on the blood.

 

I have dogs that come down from the breedings that Super Gnat done with the above crosses.Mine have some Redboy by the way of the Hogdog/Boze breeding.But mainly Charlie,Ace,IronLady and Lilly Mae the Zebo comes by Ruby.

 

I cant say much about pure lonzo blood but I had a bitch name valdez alize that was a good bitch if someone can post the ped for me she was a cross

big i feel you but the shit thats working as you said it yourself is all crossed up ... and ive seen i enough of this blood from the early 90's late 80's stuff .....to know its better crossed up ... would love to see it real tight working ..and yes his been dead so has jeep and a few overs but folks got that shit tight and up close and theres a reason why..
