6 month old red nose with mange???

Discussion in 'Parasites' started by garlandsgirlie, Sep 4, 2008.

  1. My pup has developed spots on him and i was curious if anyone else has has this problem. There is about ten spots on him that are about 1/4 - 1/2 inch in diameter. They are on his back and one on the top of his neck. He is not itching or digging. They are scaly patches with some that have a had knot in them. His one sister was diagnosed with demodectic mange through one vet and now a food allergy through one vet. The other brother was diagnosed with scarpotic mange. I was just wondering if anyone has had this problem with there pups. I was told that i should wait and see if it will go away on its own. I have been using NUSTOCK on him and there are a lil better but not 100%.

Hey G you should take him to the vet. They could do a skin scrap and look at it under a microscope to see if it is some sort of mite. I do my own scrapings and it is good to catch it while it's not too bad!

If it's demodectic mange ask your vet about starting your dog on Ivermectin. It worked for my dog and her mange is now in remission meaning she tested neg on her last skin scraping.
